First Time Supplement User

Hi all, this is my very first posting here. I am a 51 yr old, very fit guy, 5’8", 215 lb, muscular build. I decided to try supplements for the first time this summer to see how far my workouts can go as well as to lean up.

I get the summers off so I work out in the mornings, 8:00 or so. Here is what I have been doing thus far.

  1. I start the morning with a Super Vitamin Pak (ISS)
  2. N.O.-Explode
  3. Off to the gym 30 minutes or so later…
  4. After the work out I do Glutamine power
  5. An hour after that I take Lipo 6
  6. 1/2 hour later I do a Isolate Protien whey drink of a small meal
  7. A few protein shakes or bars throughout the day
  8. Lipo 6 late afternoon.
  9. Dinner
  10. Glutamine again at bed time.

Starting Monday I am going to add NITRIX to my preworkout energy boost, noxplode. Plus I will use NITrix 1/2 before lunch and dinner. This seems like quite the regiment as I read it.

I have been working out now for about 16 years. Over the last 2 years it seems that I have not made any significant progress. Now when I say I work out, dont get me wrong, I am not a hard-bodied, fitness fiend.

I do what I do to maintain my health but I like to push to the limites as well. I like the results as does my wife. I have a routine that I keep track of. My workouts with the supplements seem to give me an edge/pump. Last summer I was benching 325 max. for example. I can not do that now as I have some shoulder pain, so I work around it with other exercises. My stats are 5’8", 215 lb. Just for the heck of it I measured my bicep to find that it is 18 1/2" (is that good?)

I think my main objective is to become more lean & look more muscular/trim. So as a newbie to the supplement stuff I am just looking for feedback for now.

So, I guess I am looking for input, suggestions, etc. for a newbie to this stuff. I have been doing lots of reading and the opinions on these products is so varied.

Thanks for taking the time to read this all.

I would read this article before you take any more of the BSN products: http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459369

Glutamine is shit! Everything from BSN is bullshit! Lipo 6 is overhyped!

You picked some dud supplements and dud brands.

I don’t see any fish oil etc… which are the most important especially at your age

something like hydro whey like “Surge” will make a big difference immediately in how you recover from workouts

I donno if you know this or not, but this website actually sells some supplements. I hear they’re pretty good…

Glutamine is debateable, but you’re right otherwise. The fact is that what people use glutamine for is the wrong use anywhow!

Good effort on your part, but make sure you get better supplements. At your age, probally Flameout and Alpha Male will be best for you if you want to dish out cash on that.
