Thought this would be a good way of introducing myself since I’ve been lurking these boards for the past year. I just competed in my first meet today and had the time of my life, I’m officially hooked! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I’ve been lifting weights for many years but started “training” about 6 months now. I’ve been using 5/3/1 and have seen some great results so far.
I weighed in at 190 (didn’t cut weight at all) and didn’t come anywhere close to comparing with the other lifters but had a great experience. Just wanted to stop by and say what’s up and will definitely continue to train.
Congrats on becoming a “competitive powerlifter” That’s a great total for your first meet. Do 5/3/1 again and base your working numbers on 90% of your meet results. Don’t compare yourself to other lifters…compare yourself to your previous results.

Thanks for the advice, I will definitely start 5/3/1 with my new numbers.

Thanks man. I pr’d my squat by 20 pounds, and tied my pr for the pull on my third attempt but wish I had gone a little higher since the weight seemed to come up pretty easy.
