First Meet Results

Hey guys…did my first meet yesterday. It was a fucking rush. It was USAPL collegiate division and I was nervous as shit. My first lift I missed due to depth issue, I hit parallel but they really want you to break parallel a bit. Other than that it went pretty smooth. Missed my final attempt for bench, went 3 for 3 for deadlift.

82kg class
155kg squat
115kg bench
195kg deadlift

I did everything raw except for squats I used inzer wraps and a belt, deadlifts I wore a belt. I’ll probably use my centurion and f6 next meet…maybe not though. I want to get much stronger raw anyway. Also, I never reaized how much of an effect stopping totally at the chest and waiting for the press command has. I have hit 285lbs in the gym touch and go, without bouncing at all. My third attempt was 120kg and I missed it about 6 inches from lockout. I missed my 1st attempt squat for depth and missed my final attempt squat of 165kg…I feel I would have had it if I had a few more seconds to fight it but oh well.

Every deadlift went up smoothly, and my last was a PR for me. All in all pretty weak compared to most others, but I’m proud of my numbers, I’ve worked hard to achieve them, and every meet I hope to improve. I felt good to break 1000 total. Next year I’m sure I’ll qualify for collegiate nationals.

Great work!

And yes, the pause on bench really makes a difference.

Thanks man

Nice job man. Hopefully when I first compete I can break a 1000 pound total.

great job bro keep it up

well you learn by experience…now you know to train for the pause

keep us posted if you have another meet

solid job man. It seems that we are about the same size and lift about the same. I do 305 for bench 405 for squat but my dead sucks! I can maybe get 375. I train using deficits and heavy worksets of reps of 3-5 but it seems to be going down. I want to get to the point that u are at where your dead is decently higher than ur squat but i just feel stuck. Do u do sumo? I have been doing conventional, but i find myself using a lot of back and feel that because of that i dont get stronger.

How do u train for deads and would u recommend: taking the hit on weights and switching to sumo for long term strength gains or keep cracking at conventional and hope that i finally catch a groove?

Personally for me, I pull conventional…always have. But if you can squat more than you can dead it might be beneficial for you to pull sumo and use more leg drive. I will admit that I use alot of back when I pull. For me anytime I have been able to get a weight off the floor for a bit, then I will be able to lock it out, so I train deficits.

Rack pulls helped me somewhat, but I rarely have a problem at lock out. I was stuck at 365 for a while and then it seemed like it was almost overnight that I hit 405. Just keep pulling.

Did really good all things considered. Now you got the whole jist of things down, some base steength and a team. Now you gotta start getting on the horse for next year and utilizing all the gear you got. Good luck in the future and good job for your meet.

Good job on the meet. Now experiment and train your balls off.Keep training raw , if you want you can poste your training log in my thread ‘‘started a powerlifting club’’ in the performance photo section.

Nice numbers man, congrats. I’m preparing for my first in May.

Thanks for the support guys. I’m either doing the europa meet in orlando next month or waiting until summer for another meet. I have decided really only to lift usapl, and hopefully IPF one day.
