First Cycle Opinions/Help

Hey guys long time lurker, I’ve recently come across some AAS (Test E 300mg/ml and some Anavar) and wanted to try my luck at a first time cycle. I’ve done a lot of research on both compounds and was thinking

300mg of Test E every week and Anavar for 6-8weeks titrating up to 40mg a day split into multiple doses a day.

Stats:

Age: 29

Weight: 215

Years I’ve been lifting: 13 years

Nutrition and sleep are dialed in.

My question is, will this be an adequate first cycle or should I just do Test for the first run through?

Any help is super appreciated

Also just got done bulking so goal would be to lose body fat and preserve/gain more muscle mass.

How much do you weigh?
How many grams of protein are you eating every day?

I would prefer you make the first fat loss attempt AAS free. See what you can so naturally. I always recommend an upper body strength metric. Then try to drop weight by removing some carbohydrates (while eating a lot of protein) and keep your strength metric as high as you can. If you get noticeably weaker, add back some carbohydrates. Hopefully your strength will return.

There is no rush. Take it slow and strong.

Current weight is about 215lbs at about 18-19% body fat. A little on the higher side I know. And I’m eating around 200-222grams of protein a day.

Don’t use your first cycle to diet. There is no reason to use drugs to drop a few pounds.
Steroids are to build muscle.

Instead… run Test E for 10 weeks. Run the Anavar the last 6 of the 10. What’s your PCT plan? I agree with other that you should prob try to lean up as much as possible first. Even if you only squeeze an extra 1-2%. Also, keep in mind that one cycle does not yield keep worthy gains. As long as you’re OK with a temporary look, roll on.

Thanks @blshaw for the response! I’ll try and shed a little more body fat before hopping on!

I have a bunch of Clomid I was going to run ?

This is a point that I have trying to amplify this past year. Each cycle builds on the previous cycle. In 1971 it took me cycling about three times a year to get good enough to place 4th in a small bodybuilding contest in 1974. And another five years of about three cycles per year to win my class in the Jr USA in 1979.

About all a single run of AAS does is give you an idea if you respond well to AAS. Sure you will put on SOME muscle, but far from as much as you will want.

Agreed. If you’re on TRT you have a far better chance of preserving your new lean mass from one blast/cycle. But the PCT route is horrendous and basically you go from anabolic state on AAS to instant catabolic state on PCT. During PCT you also feel like trash or at least I did all while losing most of your “gains”. The only way I knew of guys keeping muscle 25+ years ago was perma cycling or continual cycling with short off breaks in between.

Not a good enough reply for me. If you’re “dialed in” you should be able to do without the “around” and state exact PCF you consume every day.

I read your statement as “I have no idea.” I second dieting rather than diving into drugs to lose body fat. Save it for other purposes and learn discipline rather than resorting to the lazy man’s way out.

Does everyone count their macros now? All that I counted was getting at least 40 grams of protein six times a day. If I said that I took at least 240 grams of protein a day would you assume that I wasn’t “dialed in”?

Why is the feedback system not the far better than method of fat reduction. I never counted macros apart from taking at least 240 grams of lean protein a day and that took care of the fat intake. Carbohydrates were my adjusted variable. My strength, weight, skin fold test, and mirror were my metrics.

How advanced were you at the time?

It’s his first cycle…..tracking overall calories is a must imo.

I never did it any other way. The same feedback with lots of protein I used in 1970 for my first bodybuilding contest, I used then, I just tweaked as time went on for many, many contests through 1996. I never counted macros from the start.

Always the first step is to start with a clean diet from about 15% body fat. I ate the same quantity that maintained my body weight. I began by dropping some carbohydrates and watched the scale, mirror, and strength. I made carbohydrate adjustments from that feedback. I call it an Idiot Diet, because any idiot could do that.

Disclaimer: I had plenty of practice with the Idiot Diet, because I competed around three times every year. BUT, I never counted calories or macros other than protein.

He’s looking to drop fat. Even if he’s counting protein, he’s allowed himself to put on too much body fat so, given his situation, I believe he needs to know exactly how much he’s currently eating to make necessary adjustments. As stated above, more experienced individuals, who already know from experience how many calories they are consuming, as they’ve done tracking in the past, may be able to eat instinctively as you were.

There is nothing instinctive about adjusting carbohydrates by feedback of the scale, mirror, and strength. That is a calculating methodology. Sure, the more I did it the better I could guess how much carbohydrates to drop or add.

Tell me what source there was in 1970 for me to know where to start. The magazines were promoting protein supplements (which were mostly soy.) I didn’t know anyone who counted calories or macros. All I knew was that sufficient protein was the most critical component for bodybuilders.

Hey brother, nothing wrong with the way you did it at all. I don’t can’t macros either but I’m in tune with what my body needs too. I’ve been at it 27 years. People who struggle will definitely benefit from complete macro counting. It’s a hassle however but worth the effort to some.

I agree when someone is food ignorant and/or just plain fat. Whenever ANYONE wants to drop body fat to show the muscles they have built, they need to start by eating clean. IMO, all that matters is protein intake with all carbohydrates being clean, unprocessed food.

Many argue that my experience is why it works for me. What they don’t understand is that when I started the “Idiot Diet” that I had no experience using it for my first contest.

What I cannot not do, in good faith, is let someone demand that if you don’t count and know your exact macros that you are not serious, go unchallenged. IMO, there is a better way where the dieter drives the process, and not the diet that drives the process.

I’d say it was your dedication. When you say

Most people don’t do that or misunderstand what clean unprocessed food is. I bet you were disciplined. For those that are not it takes counting macros for accountability

Test always first cycle . And your anavar if black market is not real lol. 200-250mgs of test actually leads good results without bloat or water retention or high blood pressure
