Alright gentlemen. The games are officially 25% complete. Time for some updates. Note: said my bench 1RM was 265 previously, but it turns out it was actually 245.
Hit the 220kg (484lbs) deadlift today, felt pretty good, hips shot up early but back stayed in good position I think. I’ll chuck the video up once I’ve downloaded it onto my computer! After todays deadlifts I got a front squat PB of 125kg (275lbs) after doing doubles working up on 100:110:115:120kg so pretty pleased! First ever powerlifting competition coming up in 5 weeks this Sunday, aiming for a 227.5kg (500lbs) deadlift then can set my sights on the 600lbs.
l got a 155kg squat last monday so that means I’m now sitting at 155/120/75/220, definitely want to get to the 180:140:90:220 by the end of 2014.

BUT the first 110 bench and my deadlift both went up all the way…red flagged for slow/paused lifting. But fuck it, I’m not competing in worlds so don’t really care about the call – if it went up, then to me it’s good and I’m happy with my numbers today. I want a higher bench tho…

Nah, just update the squat! The deadlift was a very ugly lift that hitched all the way up! Red flag is red flag.
But I’m still happy because it’s more than I’ve ever pulled and, in my opinion, even if a lift is flagged for hitching, fighting all the way up and not lowering the beast is good -mental- training.
I would like to get in on this. Do I need a video of where I am at now or just a video when I get there. Video’s in my gym are problematic so it would take a little extra effort to make that happen which I am willing to do but preferably when I actually get there.
If that’s cool, I am currently sitting at 335/275/405/165. Been lurking this thread but never got involved because I didn’t think I would even be close by this point. Coming back after a pretty long layoff.
Yeah I’m running a very abbreviated version of Ed Coan routine for Squat, Bench, and DL. Will likely max out here soon, but no crazy PR’s as of now. Mostly just ‘beltless’ PR’s.
I did hit 275x3 on Front Squats though like 2 weeks ago. So that was cool!

Yeah I actually hadn’t benched, squatted (besides some front squatting) or dead-lifted for over a year. Just started up again a 2 months ago on deadlift and boxsquat and this month on bench.

The following were all working maxes. Worked up to a single or triple that was good form and not struggling, just a solid "X"RM.
Hah absolutely. And given my past full of horrible form, injury and inconsistencies (hence why I wasn’t doing the big three for a while), I’m pretty damn happy where I’m at to start.
I don’t think I’ll hit the goal numbers on the front page, but I’ll be well on my way.
