I don’t ever max anymore due to risk of injury.
Bench - 465 x 7 Goal - 495 x 10
Squat - 495 x 10 Goal - 585 x 10 (Moved away from heavy squatting due to my knees feeling like an old ass man)
Dead - 655 x 10 Goal - 700 x 10 (deadlift has always been my easiest lift I fucking love doing them. I think the longer arm combination plus my relatively short height gives me about the perfect build for them)
OHP 315 x 10 Goal - 405 x 10 (this may never happen due to them giving my shoulders hell)
Just for a real challenge, I’ll aim to get my 1RM to your 10 hahaha.
KG’s
Bench: 1201 - require 2251
Squat: 1801 - require 2651
Dead: 2001 - require 3201
Push Press: 1001 - require 1851
That’s gonna be quite the feat if I pull this off… so see you end of year with video’s ![]()
105kg pr on PushPress today… Little by little !
… you don’t actually think any of these goals are remotely attainable in a year, do you?
Only person in the gym who squats deeper than me
Maazer could you update my stats to:
125/190/120/60x5
Ta.

Would you care to wager a bottle of I3G that I do not attain ONE of these goals ?
I’m nearly certain the lower body ones are possible… the upper body ones will be tougher.

Definitely. Are you in fact natty? I would consider making the bet even if you aren’t, but since ‘natty’ is in the thread title, I’m sort of assuming this is part of the criteria.

I completely overlooked the Natty criteria.

You also overlooked the fact that the weights in the challenge are your warm-up weights, but we let that slide.
What’s your take on the bet? Think he has any chance?

And yes I am, only back in the gym 3 months; gave it up for a few years to focus on career.
Well guys, I pulled 500 lbs today but I used straps :/. I’ll start training my grip more seriously, not sure I could pull 365 without straps right now lol

My honest opinion: unless you are stepping on a platform to compete in PL, keep using the straps. Why short change your hams/glutes/back because your grip isn’t up to snuff?
I can’t form a tight fist with my right hand so my grip blows on every exercise, if someone wants to say my DL’s and rows and shit don’t count then w/e.

That has always been my reasoning behind using straps. I was more saying for this thread though, as the rules dictate that the deadlift must be done without straps
I saw the video man, solid lift! Are you using a semi-sumo stance?
Spidey22 wrote:

Thanks Kev! Well, I’m kind of questioning my stance haha…I’ve always been a conventional puller but had trouble with my back rounding on heavy attempts (like it did in that video.) My coach has me doing sumo deads as part of a complex during my current block, but the heaviest I had done on them prior to today was 300 for sets of 10. I felt like I was able to get my hips underneath me more and keep my back straighter on them, so I was thinking I might start doing all my deadlifts sumo style. I was feeling really good today so I decided on a whim to go for that PR. But obviously my form still broke down haha. Do you think my stance needs to be wider?
This looks awesome!
My current lifts (Sorry 5/3/1 doesn’t have 1rm’s only rep PR’s). So my current bests are
IFlashback: 315x4/225x7/405x1/140x11 (lbs)
Here are a few videos verifying strength levels (The first two are from this week):
My goals for the year are hit 365/295/455/200 on the lifts respectively as a start. Anything extra is a bonus.

It’s ok, whenever you pop up in a thread I never see anything but your avatar
As far as straps go, like it says in the OP, it’d be best if you can get the pull without them, unless you have a legitimate reason.
I use them a ton in training though, just cos I’m not comfortable pulling mixed grip regularly (one arm doesn’t straighten all the way, gives me lateral elbow pain and makes me worry about bicep tears when going underhand, and when I take the other arm underhand, I tend to pull a muscle in my back). I do separate grip work, and don’t have any problems with switching to mixed grip when it matters.
Pwolves, that’s a pretty big disparity, are you using double overhand when you go strapless?

In my personal opinion, if you are bodybuilding you should always go double overhand with straps. When I am trying to work back - I want to work back and get the maximum effort out of my back muscles. I don’t want to have to worry about my grip failing. Because my grip is always going to wear out before my back.
So, I always use straps.
