yeah, thought I was done actually. 21 year old was straight out of high school. was hard work but he and I are close, didn’t think it was going to be that way a few times. was divorced by the time I was 22.
My wife and I had a rough time initially, couple of miscarriages, but then the last two happened and its been great.
Sorry about the hijack…

I really doubt FOTG will mind the hijack. If he has been lurking he knows we all do this.
Question I have thought about as a guy who had kids early, son is 20 and daughter is 17. For yourself are you a better dad now or when you were younger? Do you find yourself more patient now as opposed to when you were a younger father?

Well, I don’t know really. You know I fought really fucking hard just to get to see my kid, his mother made a lot of bad decisions, and tried to shut me out a lot, while he was growing up, but I moved states, showed up every other weekend to get him even if she didn’t answer my calls to confirm, just never fucking gave up.
The one thing is I am obviously more settled, and a better provider. I would like to say I understand how important every second is with my kids now, but no I think I got that first time around. And there are also still the times when they will drive me totally crazy, lol, and I need to get away:)
Ultimately I do feel much more comfortable and confident in the role now than when I was in my early twenties.

I hear you Pete, I was divorced young also after my two children. I talked my X into the fact we couldnt afford lawyers and so did the divorce myself with visitations. I got my kids 3 days a week period and I fought like hell myself to keep that.
I just remember having a shorter fuse when I was younger and needed to walk away when they were driving me nuts. Now it just seems I have much more patience, however by this point the teenagers have wore me down. ![]()
Man, I can’t imagine how hard it must have been not to see your kids for extended periods of time. I stress out just not seeing him for a day. I’m really sorry for what you must have and still do endure.
When timmy was little my wife would say “you always jump up when he calls you to play” i told her that i knew someday he may stop asking. so i’m going to enjoy it while he still does.
He’s an acting geek like me. So i really hope that the bond will go unbroken. but one can only pray and try.
Welcome fakeoldtoughguy. A pro wrestler! How fun is that! Did you have a cool name and persona?
About the kid thing . . . I was married ten years before I had my first. It was a good decision for me. It must be hard to be a young parent with no resources and still a kid yourself.
I brought my son to his Crossfit class today. I was going to do a drop-in class myself.
But the workout was high rep muscle snatches with snatch grip. My shoulder ached at the thought.
Instead I watched Timmy do a 500m row, push press, box jump, wall ball circuit 3 times. As I sat
on a comfortable chair drinking a Dunkin Donuts large Ice Coffee. freely admonishing him for poor technuque on the 3rd circuit.
Timmy gave Daddy some rather harsh looks! Some were ones I never saw befor. LOL

Hey I did that workout yesterday, its in my log about the snatches. My traps are dead today. We also add a strength workout with box squats.

Me too. I’m done at 6p no matter what. Training is important but they won’t be kids that long.
Stiff Leg Dl 135 x 3 x 8 (warm up)
Deadlifts 135 x 5, 185 x 5 , 225 x 5, 275 x 5, 315 x 5, 340 x 3, 365 x 3 x 1 Felt light. Not bad for me.
Chain One Leg lunge / Squat 1c x 10L each leg 10 sq, 2C x 10 /10 sq 3c x 10 / 10 sq, 4c x 3 / 10 sq
the only rest was walking to the rack to get another chain. i was going to try to go back 3-2-1. But i mistook myself for a better athlete.
Band Leg Curls 5 x 8
Standing Calf 5 x 8
I will sleep down stairs tonight. I refuse to face the stairs in the morning. I told the wife I feel like I’ve been neglecting the Dog and should sleep with him. LOL

Welcome, fakeoldtoughguy. I used to work in Hollywood, so I understand how hard you’ve got it. The struggles, the disappointments, the sweating, the betrayals . . .
Oh yeah, and I suppose wrestling takes work too.[/quote]

Truth. I had to drop my return to karate, but the kid won’t be a kid forever and between her and the waza there was no contest.
