I just found this classic thread on bb.com and thought it was hilarious (and a little bit sad). For those who haven’t seen this, take a look.
What the fuck is up with making fun of people’s failures. How are you so perfect that you can mock someone like that.
give the guy a break

Hey, they’re just trying to make a little gold.
Were all the mirrors in that kid’s house broken? That guy doesn’t need a break, he needs some common sense.
P.S. I like how they spelled “You’re” as “Your”. We wouldn’t want people thinking we understand English.

Are you fucking kidding me? That kid took a whole YEAR of training and shitty diet and turned himself into a fat blob. How can anyone with a shred of common sense and intelligence fail to see a complete lack of progress liek that?
He also completely ignored anyones advice to keep on bulking but with a cleaner diet, cardio and new program, and instead went cutting and is now exactly back to square 1.

I see that shit all the time. I found that banner floating around the web. Despite the grammar, it’s hilarious.
WHERE are the fish and the ummmm rice cakes

The kid’s 18 and ate far too many carbs for his bodytype.
Who here knew at 18 what macronutrient breakdown suited their particular body??
Not many, I bet.
So the kid looks like shit. It will hopefully be a powerful lesson for him and he’ll use it to his advantage.[/quote]
at 18, I was eating cookies and chocolate milk for lunch and fast food for dinner, and I was the leanest I ever was. Damn I miss those days of eating whatever
yeah im going with hilarious, he prob could have used some common sense and realised how fat he was getting, seeked some advice from a dietician or gone on T-Nation, soo yeah hilarious, but really hopeful other people dont make the same mistake…,
prob took the ,eat everything in sight idea so many people give

Agreed. Some of them act like you aren’t supposed to make mistakes.
The ones making the mistakes and learning from them will always see more progress than those in fear of making mistakes so they sit around afraid to try anything. That kid gained a lot of fat. He also gained about 70lbs in one year. I would question his actual work ethic and training intensity way before I would question his eating habits. Someone at that age should have gained much more muscle mass in that time period no matter what they ate as long as they were gaining weight at a sane rate.

The point is, it took a whole year and a thread on a message board for him to realize that something was lacking. I agree with what you said about the mistakes… but when that mistake takes a year for it to be even realized as being a mistake, there is something questionable about his mentality.
After 6 months of looking the same (albeit fatter), shouldn’t one analyse the situation and try and figure out what’s wrong?

Yeah, I was thinkin he probably just doesn’t know how to train effectively. You would think most guys who would actually eat like that for a year would also be willing to work hard. I bet he just doesn’t know how. Somebody like this is a welcome break from all these fat phobic scarecrows we’re usually treated to around here.
Is it possible there’s been a sighting of a specimen that actually has too LITTLE information? Wouldn’t that be freaky.

Maybe those fat phobic people have a bit of a point…if you look at the before and after the guys face is a lot fatter and uglier. Most people don’t want to walk around looking like some fat, ugly fuck.

Here’s today,s free tip.
If you’re going to view your training by how you look in the present right from the start, or even by your first year, do yourself a favor and take up croquet or something. It will be a lot less frustrating.

Bodybuilding isn’t for everyone. I keep saying that. If someone happens to be one of the people who takes an extended period of time to figure out how to make the basics work, I would suggest finding a new hobby.
I personally don’t get someone spending this much time and effort on something yet failing over and over to grasp the most basic concepts of simply reaching a fucking goal.

Truth. If you aren’t ever willing to go through ANY periods of time where you look softer and are carrying more weight, then quit wasting time here as if you are going to make such great progress. This kid is the extreme example of not paying attention, but let’s stop pretending like anyone is going to go from skinny to huge without ever carrying any extra body weight at all in any way, shape or form.
It’s been years on this site and we have yet to see one of the “fat-phobes” make that type of progress.
There is a lot of unsound advice and conflicting information out there and on this site. Most of what I’ve learned, I’ve learned from other forum members who’ve actually succeeded at building muscle.
