Recently when I’ve been doing any chest or overhead pressing my elbows have been aching. I first noticed when I started putting 315 on bench which is a first now, that when I’m about 75% of the way to lockout all the way until lockout my elbows start aching. They dont necessarily hurt but they feel uncomfortable and like there about to snap.
And my last shoulder workout when I was doing OH smith presses my elbows were aching the whole time. I’m pressing more and more weight on both but the pain is concerning me. Any ideas? I was thinking about starting some Omega 3s but I dont know what else to do

sounds like tricep tendonitis, are you doing a lot of tricep extensions behind the head or skull crushers
I’ll do one or the other. But every tricep day I’m doing one of those exercises plus a few more pushdown variations. Should I toss those two out? I always properly warm my elbows up by doing a few light sets of 10 reps after already hitting chest.

I was think the same thing. I had tri tendon issues many years back. I took off lifting for 3 weeks(good chance you are over due for a good layoff anyway)cut out the skull crushers and never had an issue there after. I do not do any pressing behind the head for any long period of time since I do not like the angle it puts the shoulder and elbow joints at.
Take a look at some other movements that you may be doing and unknowing hitting your triceps. After your layoff, pack your pushing movements together and perform them once a week for 3 months.
Ow, and ICE the damn thing for 15 min as soon as you are done. What ever small damage you have caused will be put to bed right away.
Sounds good. Right now the only tricep exercises I do are on chest day once a week. I’m thinking its probably due to the heavy french presses I’ve been doing and also the skull crushers/ pushdowns behind the head since I alternate weekly between the two.
Rest is often a good first step.
Then i would avoid limiting mouvements(Smith, any srtaight bar…).
I would opt for push down with rope attachement, pressing dumbells(pecs, shoulders…)
When wrists and elbows are forced into a strict pattern the risk get higher for issues(in martial arts each punch involves some rotation).
Even vertical pulls i use dumbells or 2 handles/rings. If needed plan B might be neutral grip.
This might help, all the best !
