Sorry to hear all that, duke. You have a lot to figure out with that nonsense. There are probably some differences there vs where I’m at but I’ll let you know how things would play out here.

It sounds like a son’s word against his father’s (not sure if you have any witnesses). That makes a conviction tough even if you want to press charges.

You’re his son and I’m assuming still a minor by legal standards (18 here). You’re supposed to fyi what dad tells you no matter how stupid it is. If you disobey then he can discipline you but there’s a difference between discipline and abuse. Your situation sounds like abuse…or just a fight. If you run from him and he grabs you then he probably won’t get in trouble for that. The follow-up stuff was definitely crossing the line though.

If he’s driving drunk then I’d do what I could to be safe and maybe even get him caught. That could mean refusing to get in the car and calling three police immediately or riding with him until you see a good opportunity to get out and inform someone who could report him or keep you safe. I’d hope he wouldn’t put his hands on you in front of another adult in that situation.

In regards to the court order and your family… A court order stands until a judge says it doesn’t. The status of his employment doesn’t matter. That stuff also takes awhile to play out so if he missed a few payments then it’d take a few more months for the courts and bank to do anything about it.

Lastly, you live with him. You’re family. Occasionally I’ll get to arrest someone for child abuse but the end result is counseling, anger management, and they’re back with the family in no time.

In the grand scheme of things the path of least resistance might be the right one for you.

Thanks for all the information @Frank_C. When i did a runner out of the car i was trying to go to the police station but he made it there first and i was then classified
as a run away. He chased me down then took me to his house and all the other stuff happened. I should have called the police first.

I need a few counselling sessions i think but apart from that im just shaken af. I did have a psychologist appointment but couldnt go to that because of what happened with my aunty but thats ok school starts soon so i can get distracted and focus on that.

but I do have on recommendation. Learn a martial art. Brazilian or Japanese ju jutsu (that’s the japanese spelling–I feel loyalty since that’s what I learned) are fantastic, more so than karate or tae kwon do in my opinion. Japanese is a smooth blend of throws and strikes, largely intended for self defense against an opponent who is actively throwing punches/charging you.

Don’t have much understanding about BJJ but I think that’s more grappling and ground fighting, which would be ideal if you ever have to fight someone who’s big. Once they’re on the ground, it’s easy. It doesn’t matter how big someone is once you’ve torn their shoulder out of it’s socket or snapped their wrists and elbows (I doubt it’d ever come to that, but in a life or death situation I’d happily destroy somebody’s shoulder than die…you feel me?).

Iv been thinking about martial arts for a while and what happened yesterday just pushed it in my mind further.

I think it will be great for me for discipline and self defense.

Also, side note: don’t think I’m a psychopath murderer guy. Being a member of civil society, I don’t condone violence, nor do I think most violent encounters truly warranted violence to begin with. Yeah his 17th should be alot better. Il make sure of it! 35 pushups isnt that good but thanks dude. I think with lifting weights people think youl be super strong at pushups/bodyweight but thats not the case.

Dips/ weighted dips do have some carryover to push ups i think though.

Its not really about empathy man. Even though my mums done some terrible shit she doesnt deserve to get backlash because of my dad being a fuckwit.

Il re book an appointment with my psychologist ( have to drive 2 hrs to see them lol) well prior it was stuff all distance at my aunties but that’s okay.

I think everyone can benefit from counseling. Having a third party with no connection to the situation can open your eyes to things.

Boarding school may not be all bad. Structure, consistency, and few distractions.

We become who we are because of our experiences and how we react to them. Use all of this garbage from your family life to create the complete opposite for yourself. If you have a wife and kids of your own someday then remember this shit. Think of the dad you wish you had (or needed) and be that man for your family.

Sometimes generations of families get jacked up by continual dysfunctional behavior (usually by the men of the house). Definitely seek counseling so that you can break the cycle and lead a happy, healthy life and be the strong male influence in your family.
