Doing Curls in the Squat Rack

Please don’t be one of those people…

The gym I lift at HAS all the equipment I NEED. It doesn’t, however have extra bars. Not ideal I agree, but not necessary to train. Also, I don’t NEED to lift next to bigger guys to be motivated. Again for some, not ideal, but not necessary.

Who said anything about monetary limitations being the factor in what gym I attend? It’s not. You are, like Utah, blindly assuming things about someone’s situation and choices. Thing is where I train works for my PERSONAL situation the best. Under other circumstances, I would be (and have been) in a better equipped gym. I might also in the future.

Also, relating a trainers size to the amount of equipment the gym he attends has, is silly. To many posts on this site have stated that intensity, progression, and food are the biggest keys. To many people go to the big gyms and never progress. I don’t buy that arguement.

Edit: In choosing a gym, my first criteria isn’t “will I have to curl in the squat rack or not”.

Alright guy, you want to know why I am being a little short here? Do ya? You seem a little tender…bad day?

It is because I am tired…sick and fucking tired of these types of threads in the fucking bodybuilding section.

This subject already has a 400 page thread dedicated to it, on this fucking site no less! The OP could have typed “SRC” into the search key and up would have popped 8 fucking years worth of opinion on the subject.

So I am really quite sorry that I have offended your tender sensibilities, you are quite correct I do not know why somebody would have to curl in a squat rack, because if that is your only solution to that particular problem… then I totally understand why you would get butt hurt by me telling you that you are a FUCKING women.

Sorry again.

Is this gratuitous use of “fucking” really necessary?

I hear those will increase your curl by 7.06853% and only lazy cheaters do them that way.

Anyway, these threads crack me up with all this “the squat rack is my sacred bodybuilding altar” bullshit.

In the Get A Life section next to the other thread about curling in the squat rack.

Yea, but this was a serious thread regarding gym equipment and different options for doing barbell curls with limited oly bars? Most people that commented on the thread read the title and blindly stated their opinion without reading the details. (The title was misleading). Not saying that you did the same.

Work on getting bigger than that guy, then one day you can have the greatest feeling of telling him you need the rack to do some squats and have him watch in awe as you squat and rep out 400+ lbs in his face:D[/quote]

I rub snake oil on me knees before every lift and light incense…

it is very sacred…

its not the ‘sacredness’ lol but the fact that I hate going to the gym with legs on my mind knowing that this workout will HURT today and I’m focused, half pumped, half pissed, ready to rock…and then go in the weight room to see some pud curling…forcing me to wait and possibly kill any drive I had to push myself past my previous PR’s.

Plus if I had to wait then somebody might come and talk to me wasting even more time…or some pretty ms. thang will walk by and I’ll have to fight the urge to flirt in the gym…both of those scenarios lead to failure. Both are chain reactions too…because if people see one person doing that then they all do it, and soon enough your ‘gym’ is titled ‘fitness club’ and your walls are purple and they are playing chris brown on the radio…the posing room is now replaced with fat middle aged moms and skinny anorexic vegans doing tae bo on a bosu ball, etc…

and to think…this could have all been prevented if people just wouldn’t curl in the squat rack.

You see how all the problems with modern ‘fitness and health clubs’ has spawned from curling in a squat rack.

DG, I think you might be on to something…

On Monday, one of the guys curled in the power rack.
On Tuesday I heard some Rhianna and a few other popular songs on the stereo.
On Friday a lady came in to ask if we taught spinning classes.

I hope I don’t show up Monday to find out that the monos and racks have been replaced by smith machines. :stuck_out_tongue:

That is what my gym is like on any given day, except they don’t have a power rack.

On the flip-side, no-one realises how much carry-over I get out of my gear, so they just think I’m really strong (or on roids).

I’m sorry. Very very sorry.
