I am wondering if maybe I have hernia. I am having dull/sharp pains in my lower abs on my left side (between hip and belly button near waist and upper adductor/groin).
About 10 months ago, I got in a bad car accident in which I hit someone head on into their driver side. After the accident, I had a lot of pain in my lower abdominal section on my left side. After a couple days, it kind of went away and I got back into my normal routine at the gym.
A few months later, it started to really nag at me after certain movements. For instance, at the top of the deadlift, my lower abs and down into my upper groin area would pull at me and it would be a dull pain afterwards. Other times it can just be the way I step or turn or get up and it will pull on me creating a sharp pain and then dull pain afterwards. After squatting sometimes, the area would feel dull and sore. Also, lately, my lower back has been getting tight on me.
I have been going to physical therapy for a couple of weeks and they diagnosed me with a hip sprain and a tilt on the left side of my pelvis. However, the exercises and stretches they gave me were things I have been going since prior to physical therapy to try and fix it on my own and there really doesn’t seem to be any improvement.
One reason I question if I have a hernia is because prior to doing my exercises last night, I decided to try and massage the affected area before hand. It felt like the whole area was bulging and I could hear fluid moving around. When I did that on the right side, it didn’t feel like that.
Idk, most likely I’m wrong because I’m not a doctor, obviously. But my Dad had a sports hernia and he says he thinks it is one and the whole fluid/bulge thing comes from reading stuff on websites.
Has anyone else had any experience with this injury? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
