I realize it must be frustrating to attempt to explain your feelings about politics and be unable to do so, but that’s your problem, not mine. At least I’m working on rectifying my problem.
Still waiting for that video of you front squatting 405 for reps.
You’re both shifting context and you’re doing it again. MNBen wasn’t correct, he attempted to shift context from not at fault vs. intentional choice to a weighted risk comparison. If you overeat, you will get fat and develop corresponding problems. If you get on a motorcycle you will most likely have a great time, unless there is an accident. Same as the plethora of other examples given. Not at all the same book, or even library section. This is not being right, it’s shifting the conversation and ultimately offering red herrings and strawmen when compared to actual context. You want him to be right because you’re catty after feeling miffed.
In your case, an old quote from andrewgen was misquoted in a paraphrase here and you’re still running with an out of context dialogue considering. He clarified his stance as asserting gym etiquette but you won’t let go of the original misquote.
And now you’re engineering context while snipping quotes in to it.
You do you and end it how you want. There is not an “olive branch” to take in either case.
I’m not ignoring you either. Sometimes I go do things. And sometimes the little notification button is wonky. It’s not about you….
Sorry to disappoint, but it was just the first word that I crapped out. I will take credit for the pun anyway!
I always get a kick out of ultimate badasses with no record on this site of the strength feats they brag about. I met a lot of those guys working at the bar.
@asmonius Heya. Let’s see that video of your 61 year old self front squatting 405 for reps! That would certainly lend credibility to your hand to hand combat claims as well.
All of my claimed strength feats are documented here on this site. Why don’t you join the club?
BTW, I don’t have any problem with muscle men, eating chicken, training hard or people choosing steroids.
I remember the thread you’re referring to. He’s a big dude and clearly overused PEDs as you can tell from the distended waist. Either way, I would be colored impressed to see this. I just don’t get why someone frequently comes on here and threatens with tough guy speech, then disappears as he does.
I like the idea of a fitness show off as this IS a fitness oriented site. It’s something you CAN do and show. But the virtual who is tougher / beating up who is just never gonna happen so it’s just silly.
FWIW I am NOT a tough guy or a fighter. Most (real) tough guys are simply guys that have nothing to lose and I don’t want to be that guy. My feelings are that fighting is a lose lose situation in modern society. Winners and losers often face jail time or civil suits. You also risk someone pulling a weapon. The only time I would get physical with someone is to defend a loved one from actual physical aggression, not words.
Here is snipping. But even so, we see that your debate style is not really about expressing clear thought, it’s about the unfairness you endure as a wronged person who isn’t being given agreement because of the yucky fight styles of your opponents, i.e. clarity, integrity, and consistency.
Dude. I quoted him! QUOTED HIM. In sequence, with zero repeats. How is that a misquote? @Andrewgen_Receptors has shifted either A) his story, or B) his thinking. I’d like to think it’s the latter; that he is honing in on the issue, which perhaps he misrepresented earlier in the thread. Or maybe after the responses he’s gotten, he’s reconsidered. I don’t know! But quoted is not misquoted just because you don’t like precision on the part of the people you’re trying to argue.
Oh my goodness. If I overeat, I will most likely have a great time. I do it often! And I’m not fat. If you ride your motorcycle you will most likely have a great time. Except when you didn’t! At-fault or not, the choice you made to take the more-risky mode of transport increased your risk of “developing corresponding problems.” I currently work with a man who lost a leg in a motorcycle accident (on state insurance). When I was in high school a friend died in a motorcycle accident.
Running outdoors in the early morning with earbuds in, which I have done, carries risk. Broken ankles and legs, MVA, rape. Motorcycles carry risk. Overeating carries risk. Pick your risk, was @mnben87’s point, let he who is without risky behavior throw the first stone. What is it you do not understand?
But his point (which I hope I’ve accurately represented) is not mine. MY point…read carefully…is that you shouldn’t shit on fat people for the expense and uncomfortable airline seating they cause you and ALSO shit on non-athletes at the gym. Pick your beef, and then show some intellectual integrity with it!
