Hey all. I know DMSO usage has been discussed here before, but the forum search function isn’t working. I’ve got tendonitis in my knees that won’t go away and is really pissing me off, and I just ordered some DMSO to treat it. I’m wondering what treatment protocol people have found most effective. Thanks.
Mix 99.9% pure DMSO 50/50 with distilled water. Clean area before use and apply with a cottonball once per day. You can also mix some pure aloe in with the solution as this will help keep the skin from drying out excessively. Use some type of lotion on the area about 12 hours after application again to keep the skin from drying out.
What Kelly didn’t tell you is load up on breath mints! two of my friends were using it on old shoulder injuries and their breath smelled like shit. (actually a rank garlic type smell)
Try MSM instead of DMSO. Taken in the form of a powder in liquid, or in capsules, MSM is much more stable with medicinal properties equal or better to DMSO without the odor and skin irritation.
On the breath thing i should have mentioned that you will likely have the funny taste in your mouth and others might be able to smell it on your breath. I noticed for me anyway this only happens if I use quite a bit of it. I was able to take a small enough dose that greatly alleviated my pain and tendonitis while not producing the dreaded DMSO breath. As for MSM it seems to work for some, but not all, people. Personally I have tried using a ton of MSM over a long period of time and never noticed a thing from it but everytime I use DMSO within a couple of days ALL of my joints feel better not just those where I apply it.
I’ve tried locating DMSO on the Net and haven’t had much luck. Can anyone point me to a link that will allow me to order from overseas?
Thanks!
Kelly, can you offer an explanation on how DMSO alleviates tendonitis?
From what I understand it acts as an anti-inflammatory and increases cellular permeability. Damaged tissue supposedly develops greater impermeability so healing becomes more difficult…the DMSO or MSM allows this tissue to become permeable so healing can take place. As for working as a local anti-inflammatory DMSO definitely does do this and the effect on a swollen, injured bodypart such as an ankle sprain is quite rapid. On a sidenote about the only thing I noticed with MSM was much better looking and softer skin…I really didnt notice it until I stopped taking it though but I know MSM is promoted to the aging population for this reason and it does seem to work. I also do notice this same effect with DMSO (at least in all the areas except where i apply it)
