Joints & DMSO

Does anybody know if glucosamine/chondroitin could be used locally with DMSO? I have really bad elbows that are beginning to fall apart, so I’m trying to come up with some ideas that might help. Any input would be greatly appreciated…Thanks.

I don’t know why you’d want to try, as they’re pretty effective orally.

I was just wondering if they were applied locally if it would be more effective than orally, again just an idea.

Where do you buy DMSO?

I dont know about mixing glucosamine and chrondroitin with it but the dmso by itself will have a positive effect on your joints if you apply it transdermally. I’ve had my jonts swelled up like cannonballs and the best way I found to control it is DMSO. You can’t do it all the time otherwise it’ll dry the hell out of your skin but every once in a while for short durations (a week or so)…and used with aloe vera it’s ok.

When I buy DMSO it comes in a roll-on and I get it at a farm-supply store. It’s intended for livestock (like an awful lot of things weight trainers use, eh?) but works quite well and the price hasn’t changed in 10 years. I have known a lot of people to use it, but because the kind I buy has always said “Not intended for human use” on it, I always assumed that there wasn’t an over the counter kind that IS intended for human use. Am I wrong, or does everyone use the kind I do?

And ditto on what Kelly said, I have a knee that flares up for absolutely no reason on occaision and just plain DMSO rolled on once or twice a day for a few days works wonders for it.
