Digesting Protein

Here’s one for you all. I am having problems with protein digestion. I am drinking over a gallon of water per day, between meals not during meals. Also, I started taking probiotics two weeks ago with little to no relief. Does any one have some advise on how to relieve constipation when on a high protein diet regimen? Enzymes maybe.

Fiber. Lots of fruits and vegetables.

ok lets get down to the nitty gritty… when your body has trouble digesting protiene do you get constipated or does it seem like your shitting water. because i might have the same fuckin problem and my fuckin doctor has no clue whats going on. when i stop using protiene supplements it goes away.

Flax seed oil in your shakes. Or drink some prune juice if its getting out of hand.

My problem is constipation. Not so much with the protein shakes, but with the meats and whole foods.

Thanks for the info. You are the second person that recommended flaxseed oil, I think I will try it.

What is your main source of protein? Make sure your protein comes from varied whole foods, not just hamburgers and eggs. You may need more lean protein, like fish, chicken and turkey.

But I bet your problem is not enough fiber. Most men hate to eat vegetables, but you’re going to have to find some you like, preferably leafy green ones, and eats lots more of them. Refined sugars are also known to cause constipation. Eat whole fresh fruit instead. Substitute whole grain bread for the white bread, brown rice for white rice, and eat some nuts and seeds while you’re at it. You’ll be shitting your brains out in no time!

Try some psyllium seed, until you get enough fiber in your diet.

you could try drinking senna tea to help get you going…

your probiotics may not be actually live cultures - try to buy refrigerated and/or enteric coated pills.

try taking some betaine hci before you eat (increase stomach acid), i think it’s pineapple enzymes (bromelain) that can assist in breaking down protein as well as papain (papayas).

sure fire way to go - take lots of magnesium - you won’t OD it - and stay very, very close to a restroom as it could become quite explosive.

when I feel the need to loosen things up a bit , I’ll add ground oats to p-shake for a few days . works every time

I’d like to add: Eat a bowl of old-fashioned oatmeal(the slow-cook kind, whole oats) before bed . You’ll have a spectacular bowel movement in the morning!
