My Megacolon

Ok here’s my situation. Back in March i was rushed to the hospital because my stomach had become so bloated and distened that iwas in the most pain i have ever been in in my life. In the ER than ran several tests on me and found out that i had a large amount of impacted fecal matter in my pipes which confirms what my family has know all along…that I am full of shit(just kidding).

So i stayed overnight in the hospital and got cleaned out with some effervescent laxtive that made my body a glorified waste chute(by the way don’t eat whey protein straight out of the jug with no water what so ever.)

After words i had to have a colonoscopy(I’m 19 and had a colonoscopy…not pleasant)and it showed that I have something called megacolon which means that my stomach is fuckin’ big and it takes longer to empty thatn you normal folks. I go to the bathrroom in the mornings but may not get all of it out(know what i mean) and I have occasional bouts of constipation.

My question is, are there any tips anyone can give me to ensure smooth moves in the morning. I currently drink 2 gal. of water a day and watch my fiber intake. I know Berardi says that yougurt is good for constipation as well. Any help would be appreciated.

ALso to anyone who may suggest a laxative like Fleet it does not work on me. I took some as part of my prep for the colocoscopy. It didn’t work at all. i just had massive bloat and a gut full of water. My stomach is wacked out like that.

megacolon is a medical condition, and you should see a gastro-enterologist for this. a complication is toxic megacolon wherein the feacal matter is stagnant to such an extent that the bacteria in your gut become a problem.

have it checked out by a health care professional.

I did. He told me that i would be fine if just took milk of magnesia twice a week. I’m doing that but i just don’t feel like that’s enough

Dude man. Wow. Holy shit. I eat MuscleMilk dry with a spoon all of the time. Then again I shit like a champ.

My recs may not be the healthiest but work like, well, clockwork:

(good) any stimulant first thing in the AM - ie coffee
(better) any combo of stimulants first thing in the AM - ie E/C/A stack
(best) the above E/C/A stack with a big fat dip of Copenhagen

That last one will get you painting the bathroom walls in no time. I do try to use humor here, but jesus does that ever work. Of course I don’t condone the use of tobacco (I quit a while back), but anyhoo …

Yeah i do use stimulants in the morning. No pills though. Mostly coffee. It would take to long to make its way through my system to reap any benefits other than a buzz. But now that you mention it i did shit better when i was on ephedra Maybe i should give it a shot. Maybe crush it up and mix it with my morning Power Drive. And ill probably get reamed for this but burn a few cancer sticks in the morning to help with the process. I know I know im stupid for smokin but I do enjoy a good dump.

maybe taking some super enzymes and probiotics like acidophilos would help your digestive system. also some spirulina. I started taking the acidophilos and spirulina and have been much more “soft” even on my low fiber diet. laters pk

Try 8 - 12 oz. of prune juice on an empty stomach, wait an additional 30 minutes or so before eating, and within 1- 2 hours, you should “feel the earth move.”

I eat roughly 4 cups of yogurt a day and i was taking an enzyme supp there for a while. It did seem like i was more consitent when i was on them. Havent tried the prune juice thing yet. I just think that anything that has a laxative like effect on normal people (i.e. sugar free products, super laxatives,) will just make me bloated and uncomfortable. I use to eat the fat free sugar free ice cream as a treat but i just can’t do it anymore. i look lie the goddamn hindenburg when i eat it.

a few more things about my current situation I failed to mention. This problem has all but made me a fucking recluse and i don’t get nearly enough protein or calories to fuel my lifting. My weight has dropped and i feel like crap because essentially all i eat is oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and ,when im feeling brave, chicken and vegetables. Before this incident i was consuming well over my body weight in protein, eating 5 to 6 times a day and putting down a shit load of fruit. Almost 10 pieces a day. I miss that. I’m currently pyschologist about this and i hope one day i will get a pair and go back to eating like i used to. SO i could really use some advice or tips from all the knowledgable people who post on this site everyday. ANd to those who have responded I would like to say “Thanks”.
