Im in the 150g carbs on medium days and 60g on low days zone at the moment. 50 mins cardio per day, every day.
Having real hunger issues at the moment, nothing is filling, even with a decent amount of food. Coupled with the fact that today is my last chance for a cheat meal for a LONG time with the surgery coming up as it’d be stupid to have a cheat meal when I cant train for an indefinate period.
Scale officially hasn’t budged this week. 182.4 up to 189 and then back to 182.4 over the course of the week. Update has been sent. 1 week out.
Beaul - that sounds barely worth the effort of eating the carbs!
Yeah, it’s probably a good thing to go in without a huge cheat meal.
I went back and tried to find if you mentioned this, but couldn’t. How long do you think you will be out of training for? How long will you be bed ridden? Hopefully you will be able to at least start a little cardio soon after. At least low days wont be too hard since you wont be trying to train hard.
Also are you going to be adjusting calories up a little for surgery recovery? Or just keep them where they are at and still send in weekly updates?

Well I saw the surgeon today and he reckons indoor rest for about two weeks. I have to sleep with my knees up and basically not straighten my legs out at all, to keep the pressure off the wounds. Need to find a wedge shaped pillow as im going to be ‘folded’ up, for the first few weeks! I’ll start my cardio by just doing a little slow walking with the dog, he’s old and very slow, so will regulate my pace well. Then we’ll bump it up to elliptical and stuff I imagine. Apparently once the wounds are healed up, I can go full bore again more or less straight away.
I got my cheat meal, I dont think Shelby was too happy about it! But I think he saw that it was more a mental thing than a physiological thing. Plus i’ve finally got a half day off work, so I could sleep in. Got about 11 hours and didnt have a huge weight rebound. Felt amazing during cardio this morning for the first time in a long time. We’ve bumped it up 10 mins for the last week, and I have a feeling we’ll see some big big changes in weight and body comp this week. The extra sleep has made a massive difference to my mental state. I have a full day off tomorrow and as its a training day, I can just eat when I get up and not have to do FMC. With not being able to work i’ll have worked 22 out of the last 23 days in order to build up some money to pay bills and stuff whilst i’m out of action.

Yep, think there is too much info in there
ok i changed it… i just figured it didnt really matter since everyone has different needs and diet is tailored to each individual, i see what you mean though

That diet is like mine exactly just slightly different portions. Strange.

im lifting 5 days/week and up to 70 minutes cardio every morning if that makes any difference…
idk if you looked at my links or not (didnt know how to upload images) but is my progress similar to yours?
So I was going through my wardrobe yesterday and came across some jeans I had bought before I became a fat ass (34inch waist)…Just for kicks I decided to try them on thinking there was no chance in hell they would fit as my weight on the scale hasnt changed so much. I was pretty shocked when they fit…with room! When I was at my fattest I could barely get them up past my knees.
Like I said my weight on the scale hasnt fallen dramatically but I guess ive lost a ton of fat off my glutes, hamstrings and waist. Definitely a huge motivator and great feeling.
Hanging in there. I overslept yesterday and had to go running for my cardio. 11km fasted is great fun…felt it when I got back in the gym for cardio today, totally gassed out my legs.
Had a ‘proud’ moment this week, I’m terrible for emotional eating. My dog had to be put to sleep on Friday night, and as tempting as its been to fall off the wagon, i’ve stuck fast. I havent deviated in 13 weeks, apart from sanctioned cheat meals which, after my last run through is a big achievement to me personally. But i’m really really hungry all the time at the moment! I eat, and it feels like I havent!
One more day of the diet to go, then I send my last update until after the surgery. Then we work out how to tread water with no training, no cardio at all for a few weeks.
im ‘hanging in there’ too, you could say… at trace carbs w/ 70 mins cardio every morning. now im cycling fat(s) as well but at least i get a cheat meal at the end of this week. VERY happy about that
Cheers MAF - I was blending my shake last night and that’s when he would usually appear at the back door to come in, I just kept checking for him out of habit.
zraw - genuine lol at plural poptarts.
Last day of the diet is underway.
You guys doing the VLCD - is it just FMC or are you doing PWO cardio too? I’d actually welcome the VLCD, zero carb is fine for me, it’s basically how I dropped over 100lbs, once your switched to that style of diet, then I tend to find you have a lot more energy. Plus the weekly cheat meal is great. Although being able to stick with a carb cycle for 13 weeks shows how good my metabolism is.
I would usually be jealous about the pop-tarts, but I had 4 on saturday night myself Cheat meal FTW!! I like toasting them and then putting them in my cookie dough ice cream. Along with an oatmeal cookie and i added some weight watchers chocolate cakes. Shit was for real… a whole box of those little cakes is only 480 cals.
190.8 this week. Cheat meal was pretty large, I skipped the pizza and went for something without the heavy cheese and I think I was able to eat more. It will be interesting to see how I look and weigh in this week. I looked the best i have looked yet this past saturday for sure. But i will just wait to update some pics at my 6 month mark.
Question for you guys -
Do you ever just feel like ass for about 2-5 hours, I mean like total death? Unmotivated, depressed, weak, no mental energy, light headed, zombie. If its during the day it kind of goes away all of a sudden. Sometimes it comes on at 5pm and goes until I just finally go to sleep.
The worst is when this happens right before a workout. It happened to me saturday on leg day. I even got the email that I could have a cheat meal and it didn’t snap me out of it. I couldn’t care less about the cheat meal during that time. Lasted about 6 hours saturday.
I’m thinking about bringing it up to Shelby to see if its normal. I just hate bitching/whining. I’m sure its just going to be part of the way my body is dealing with the low carbs. Because they definitely get more frequent the longer I go after a cheat meal.
I get that some times, I’ve tried really hard to dig in mentally this run through and tell myself I made the choice to do this and I can perform all I need too with the cals I’m on.
ION - my surgery got cancelled, well postponed for two weeks. The hospitals blood bank refrigeration broke so they can’t perform the procedure. So I get two more weeks of dieting to look forward too before I go in, reschedule is two weeks away. I’m very glad I switched my plans last minute.
Basically I was going to send in my pre surgery update today (Monday) when my usual day is Tuesday. Then I was going to ease up on the diet for a day, have some extra carbs and a few treats. Sometime on Sat I decided not to be a dick and run the final day and send the update in on my usual day. So glad I made that choice now as it keeps lemon track for amcouple more weeks n

I was getting there the final 2-3 weeks of my fat loss phase, everything felt slow and even the most mundane physical activity was a drag to perform(stairs lol). Oddly enough once I got myself to the gym I’d feel great but then it was back to wuss mode.
Made me have much more respect for guys that do contest prep along with a normal job and other obligations.

yes… right now. i really only feel ‘good’ right after cardio. endorphins, im guessing. but yeah i get the death feeling (ie every step really is that difficult, the little aches and pains just eat away at you, stupid things piss you off way more than they should etc)

yeah, mainly in between meals.
not so much on weekends as I can put on a movie and forget about it, but especially at work. it drags out. after I eat I am OK. Fats in peanut butter and almond butter are so satisfying!
