Why are you dieting? Is for a competition or something?

You’re likely not carrying as much fat as you’ve estimated.

im a competitive boxer so weight limits. also to see how lean i can get with the right guidance. i like to guinea pig stuff, ive always liked shelby too so thought i would bite the bullet and go for it. thats basically a short version.

I’d venture to say he’s around the 12% mark like he said.

yep. 10-12%

Shelby will get you down to the 8% area fairly easily I wager if you put in the effort.

I’ve heard people getting pretty good results with him. I’ll be interested to see how you come out. Good luck man!

Got the plan for the week, started today and have felt great. i was actually surpised at the volume of food i got to eat. today was my low day too. rite now i’ll be having 2 high days which fall on my strength workouts, i dont always have a 3rd strength workout but when i do, that will be a medium day. the rest will be low days.

Training
AM - Cardio
PM - Boxing

Let me know guys if you have something in particular you would like to see me logging?

Using Shelby kind of seems like crushing a fly with a sledgehammer given your situation but all the best, im interested to see how it goes as I hear good things about him.

F#&% that little fly. If you’ve got access to a sledge, you might as well smash the fly with all the power you’ve got!

is he having you do fasted cardio in the morning? and what kind of foods are you eating before boxing?..Im very interested as I am also a boxer cutting weight

well today before boxing was veggies, nut butter and lean beef, after i had a small amount of carbs…
he will be getting me to my normal fight weight of 152 for golden gloves at the end on march, maybe i could help you out more then. especially with regard to last week of prep and water manipulation etc, you know.
the boxing workouts havent defined if i have a high carb day though. only strength workouts.

Is he having you do many supplements? I’m sure the protein is mostly whole foods (I would guess anyways).

As far as prep for the week before the fight…
I’d be interested to hear how much water weight he plans on having you cut, and exactly when and how this will start. Also the re-hydration strategy… Does he have experience with this type of thing??? It’s not the same as prepping for a BBing show although there is certainly some carry over. You might want to look into this sort of thing yourself because it can be a make or break thing for a fighter. Also if you don’t mind sharing it (and if he doesn’t mind) if you’d share his thoughts on what supps to boost focus are good before a fight (like caffeine, phenibut, L-tyrosine DMAE Alpha-GPC/PC like in Power Drive, etc).

Good luck with everything!

^^^ no not many supps, basically ya typical thing multi vitamin, a fat burner, fish oils… everything is mainly wholefoods.

yeh, one thing that made me cautious was whethee he had any experience at all with fighters (which he had). im pretty knowledgable when it comes to making weight and that, im not ust a beginner in my sport (2008 state champ, couldnt compete last yr due to injury) so can manage that if all starts goin to shit!

one of the other things with hiring shelby was the fact i was starting to notice bad eating habits, rapidly cutting weight and then basically bingeing. and slowly the weight has crept on and i found myself cutting a lil more water for each weigh in. i wanted to get this sorted out before i hurtd my health.

its only been one day done so very early days… any ways just got back from the gym, off to EAT!!!

so, third day down and evrything is still going well. yesterday i just had boxing training and today i had circuit training. haven’t had a high day yet, my firt one is tomorrow. i haven’t weighed my self yet, im holding off until ive completed a whole week and i cannot wait to see the result. i woke up this morning and felt leaner so thats good. we shall see though soon.

Whats the nutrition look like so far?

I’m interested in following this thread so please, keep posting details regarding routine/diet and progress.

^^^ basic clean eating, just cycling carbs depending on training for the day, depends on whether its higher carb or lower.

Mind if I ask what fat burner he has you using?

Best of luck to you man, I’ll be tuned in to your progress.

Rule#1. Listen to Shelby. Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one. You paid Shelby for his, that’s the only one you should listen to. If you’ll do that, I’d go to the bank on the fact you’ll hit every goal you start with, and more.
