Deal with Eminem Wannabe's?

definetly the truth…personally i dont know if i have aspirations of being a bodybuilder yet, but for now i do know that i like to have a muscular frame and stay in good shape…

heres a question ive been thinking about…prof x, do you and the other hardcore lifters get annoyed with people like myself on the forum- who dont exactly add to the bodybuilding atmosphere? i personally come here so i can learn from guys like you, and decide what my ultimate goals regarding physique are…but i also dont want to ruin the atmosphere for the people the site is designed for…

We actually want you all dead. Not breathing, six feet under, and only a memory.

This is a bodybuilding forum. Unless someone is very short or damn near contest shape, 180lbs isn’t impressive. It took weighing 210lbs at @15+% body fat to get to over 250lbs. This is a progression and a lifestyle, not a destination.
You assume everyone’s goal is to get as big and heavy as possible. At 5’7", I would look rediculous at 210lbs (and I don’t think I could ever get that big and still be lean without the aid of some illegal substances). My plan is not to continue to gain weight for the sake of just being big. If I had my choice of the Brad Pitt look or the Van Damn look, I’d take the more muscular Van Damn. Now, Van Damn vs. Frank Zane, I’d still pick Van Damn. Just my personal opinion and I’m not flaming the big guys.

First, no, my goal is not to simply be as big and heavy as possible. Second, I had a training partner your height who was about 210lbs and lean. He looked pretty damn impressive, not “ridiculous”. You obviously don’t follow bodybuilding much so why are you here? Why continue to speak on something you know little about?

Isn’t that the T-Nation way? I can tell you that I’ve been looking for that same Van Damme look…when I was 20. Now, I don’t find it impressive, and know enough to see that he has/had a lot of imbalances…particulary with the back and traps.

T-Nation is a Bodybuilding site. We assume the majority of people who post here want to get bigger. Otherwise these people who don’t are probably on the wrong site.

I’m 5’6" and 220 and I don’t think I look ridiculous at all. Yes, I am around 20% body fat. Sorry, I decided to sacrifice my abs for some size.

Try a search for “Brad Pitt” on this site. His physique has been made fun of on this site many times.
I suggest crack or meth.

I can?t disagree Pro X , but it is more than just a Body building site .

I prefer abs. No big deal. I have to do a lot of running as part of my job, and 210lb would not be of any benefit. Different goals.

Yes, it’s a bodybuilding think tank.

Prof,

What’s all the anger about? Just because I don’t want to be gigantic doesn’t make me any less of a bodybuilder. I bet I’ve been in this game as long as you. I’ve never personally seen a guy my height over 200lbs who didn’t look stumpy. It’s pretty arrogant to criticize me for my personal goals.

That doesn’t mean we all want to look like Mr. O. What about the powerlifters here? They have entirely different goals than BB’rs. Gees, lighten up on the attitude.

LOL. Yes, I would suppose so. You asked if we are annoyed. You were answered. That takes no further debate and you made no further points.

Well, gee, the rest of “you” will have to deal with “us” as well. Let the motherfucking war begin.

Its just harder for those of us who want to be as big as poss, to see the reasoning of just wanting abs or to bring the arms up to get into a bird’s knickers.

When you’ve spent years stuffing your face, putting up with sore legs, injuries, being fat, being bloated, being anxious as hell on stimulants, jabbing gear in yer ass (that bits optional) and general dedication, just wanting to get abs and biceps for the ladies is meaningless.

Then I take personal offense to your screen name. Bigmike? Is that why that screenname wasnt available? Because your skinny ass got to it? Now I am pissed…
bigmike88 wrote:

not that you give a shit, but i take personal offense to this post…

not everyone wants to be a powerlifter or bodybuilder…they might just want a muscular frame, or to not have the physique of a chubby 12 yr old girl… even if they are still considered “skinny” by the hardcore lifters, at least they are at the gym doing something active…right?..like myself, if most of you look at my pics you would call me skinny and say im wasting my time…but the truth is i am bigger and stronger than most 17 yr olds that i know, and have made vast improvements, and have received no complaints from girls my age…

think back to when you were 16-17 and how you looked, and how your friends looked, and how the bulk of men on this site looked…then ask yourself if you went to the gym and how healthy and strong you were…and at least try to give myself and the rest of the ‘skinny’ kids a shot before you run your mouth…

p.s. im going for more of the brad pitt in “fight club” physique…which i dont think anyone in this forum can make fun of in any way…fuck eminem he doenst look like he went to the gym a day in his life…maybe just a few situps and pushups…
Hell, I have posted research on this several times and no recent studies past the 70’s have found any negative effect on testosterone levels. That leads me to believe that earlier studies were biased. That isn’t surprising considering the “Marijuana Madness” media of the time period.

Funny, while you were responding to this, I was reading your well thought out and well stated remarks from Jul 05.

http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=678890

You are clearly intelligent and adept at accessing clinical research. There are studies from the 80s which suggest depressed T levels from THC use, but I have not found anything more recent in a cursory web search. I can’t argue with your point without them. You conclude the earlier studies are biased. Maybe. Maybe the newer studies are. Who am I to say.

That said, don’t let me keep you or anyone else from firing up a bud or lighting up a bowl before, during and after your training. It’s your business. If it doesn’t cause you to lose lean mass, have FLKs, or any other side effects, then have fun.

Does anybody know any well known body builder (not chemically enhanced) who regularly uses pot? Canadians? Dutch? Germans? I’d look forward to checking out their stats.

Anyway, what the hell was this thread originally about?

I think you would be surprised to know that I don’t smoke and never have. I simply see no point in it being illegal and am not blind to friends I have had in the past who have engaged in the activity, most of which are successful.
