i think you’re worrying way to much. i have never heard of a reported case of someones growth being stunted by deadlifting. as for stiffness in your lower back, it’s probably DOMS, and that’s nothing to worry about. make sure you use good form and get ample rest beetween workouts. your lower back is a muscle that generally needs at least 72 hours rest between workouts.
A god way to tell if it’s DOMS is if the pain stops when you stop moving it. If it’s tender to the touch, it’s in the muscles. The other way yuo know is if it’s the first week of a new exercise, you know you’re going to get it.
Calvin, are you young? You are posting in the beginner’s thread so I’m assuming you are a beginner.
Have a trained person, not just some friend, coach you through the movement. I have eyeballed a couple young people at my gym while they were deadlifting, and then they saw me looking and asked if they were doing it right. (maybe i shouldn’t have been staring)
But, after they asked for help they told me that they thought their form was good, but it was in fact atrocious. I’m not saying yours is, but it is definitely worth looking into.
Yeh a gym coach was looking after me, but i do not know if i should deadlift yet, cuz it has affected me in track and bench press. I deadlifted on wednesday and i thought i would be a 100% but i couldnt even really bench or run cuz of my back not just lower but the whole back. Does having a real sore back affect these attributes?
