We should start a little game between all of the teenagers here. Who can get to a 505 deadlift first. I’m at 415 right and I’m not going to make excuses for my weakness. You gentlemen up for it? We might want to make our own thread for it.

I already beat you then with my 551 at 19

I just want you guys to know that a 500+ pound teenage deadlift record is pathetic if you compare it to Olympic weightlifters. Taner Sagir (170 pound turkish weightlifter) Clean and Jerked 440 pounds… Let’s do a little bit of math here:

Approximately 129-137% of your C&J is your front squat. So since Sagir clean and jerked 440, his front squat should be ATLEAST 567.6.

People can back squat approximately 15-25% more than they can front squat. So since Sagir front squats 567.6, his back squat (high bar ATG!) should be ATLEAST 652.74 pounds. He’d probably be able to squat 700+ pounds, or even 800+! if he used the usual wide stance low bar squat (raw)…

…Judging from those lifts, how much do you think Sagir can deadlift? I’M NOT ASKING HOW MUCH HE CAN DO ON A MODIFIED DEADLIFT WHERE HE SINKS HIS HIPS LOW, AND THE BAR IS POSITIONED A COUPLE OF INCHES AWAY FROM HIM AT THE STARTING POSITION WITH NO ROUNDING OF THE THORACIC SPINE, HIS SHOULDERS MILES AWAY IN FRONT OF THE BAR! I’m talking about the usual PL style deadlift where he hitches the weight when it passes the knees like there’s no fucking tomorrow…

Oh boy…

Please take the time to think about this…

It will keep you humble…[/quote]

Are you even a powerlifter or an Oly lifter? Or do you just act like you are?

You quoted a week of workouts.

how do you get 8 months out of 4-30 and 5-07 ?

I did not post a subjective opinion. His last two deadlift workouts suggest very much that his 1rm is ~425. This is what he claims it was on the first post, way back in September of '08, of this thread. I made a completely objective observation and inquired what the deal was. I do not think I was out of line since he made his intentions and training public in the first place.

Was I maybe a tad rude about it? Perhaps, and I apologize if I offended anyone.

But still, zep, what’s up? Are you still going for this record? I want to see you get it. Is it still a goal?

425@17 im pulling 500 before summer ends

Neither, but he when he figures out the approximate back angle, power percentage, and quad:hamstring ratio 1.321 seconds into a deadlift, you guys better watch out.

I wouldn’t mind shooting for this. I’m 16 and pulled 396 today with just a belt. Only been deadlifting since January

you’ve got plenty of time nate, it hasn’t even started yet.

Pulled my first real deadlift PR since the 425(belted). 405x4 beltless.

Very nice! How come you decided to drop the belt? Do you think it was hindering you, or … ? What kind of belt do you use?

I just started using a belt myself the last few months, and, well, I like it. I’m able to lift more with it.

I used to use a thinner leather belt. I stopped really getting muuch support out of it. I started using a 13mm toro belt for squatting. Tried it for pulling a few times, more of a hindrance then a help. I’ll keep pulling raw until I find something I like.

THe 13mm would have the buckle digging in my stomache on every rep at the bottom preventing me from getting any air in. If it was any looser I got zero support from it. So I just dropped it.

Is the belt the same all around, or is it tapered? Because, if it is the same all around, you could try turning it around backwards. It might still be a pain, but you never know.

ive already hit 475 this summer, im going for 500 in about three weeks i believe i going to rep out 365 this week, then rep out 405 next week then go for the big 500  at 17, belted strapless sounds sexual aha

I’d say run through some more Coan/Phillipi, I’ve put 50lbs on my dead in my last cycle.
