I don’t mean this as a knoc or anything, but in that time you could probably pull 500+ raw. And yes, I know gear isn’t doing as much for dl as for sq, and single ply at that. Just saying. Good luck dude
where can u find RAw record for age 16 class? im trying to break the state record ive been trainign for 5 months and go 525 deadlift no equiptment
Zep’s last deadlift workout, on 5-07-09:
290x5
325x3
385x2
Prior to that, on 4-30-09 he did:
305X3
325x3
345x8
Uh, did you not gain ANYTHING on the deadlift in 8 months or what?

A word of advice from a 19 y/o that has pulled 5 plates:
Keep your feet planted and your head out of the clouds.
80 lbs looks easy when you’re making 10 lb PR in your first few weeks.
The LAST ten pounds is what’ll test your courage and the quality of your planning.
I had the same DL at 16 at 180 lbs BW trying to pull a teen record. It took me all of three years to go 3/4/5 in the big three, too late to compete for a record.
Stay humble, lift hard, and PLAN for managing plateaus.
Good luck.[/quote]
Good advice!
Also remember others might be gunning for the same record, so by the time you’re ready the record may have changed. Keep at it you have a real oppertunity there!

this looks like it is going to be really helpful, perhaps the poster had diarrhea just before he was going to dish out his great advice.
I hardly think you can compare a couple of workouts in order to figure out whether you’ve added to your deadlift or not. Besides, powerlifting is about peaking for a meet, not about peaking for a workout.
And let’s just say the OP has not added weight to his deadlift. So fucking what? He’s been working hard, he is trying to figure out how to get his lifts moving, and he is 17 years old. Chill the hell out.
As soon as you get stuck on a lift for an extended period of time, and I guarantee you will at some point, you’ll realize what a fucking bitch it is and wouldn’t think of essentially calling someone out on it.
What in the hell is the point of your post? Oh if Zep doesn’t get this record it makes me a better lifter!?
^ Ya, quit being a cock.

He posted saying he’s going to break this record. I’m merely calling him out on his progress. It’s been 8 months. I’m not judging him. No where in my post do I make a judgmental statement. Stop getting your panties in a bunch. ![]()
You quoted a week of workouts.

I did not post a subjective opinion. His last two deadlift workouts suggest very much that his 1rm is ~425. This is what he claims it was on the first post, way back in September of '08, of this thread. I made a completely objective observation and inquired what the deal was. I do not think I was out of line since he made his intentions and training public in the first place.
Was I maybe a tad rude about it? Perhaps, and I apologize if I offended anyone.
But still, zep, what’s up? Are you still going for this record? I want to see you get it. Is it still a goal?

By 8 months he’s refering to the first post, made 09-11, to now.
I just want you guys to know that a 500+ pound teenage deadlift record is pathetic if you compare it to Olympic weightlifters. Taner Sagir (170 pound turkish weightlifter) Clean and Jerked 440 pounds… Let’s do a little bit of math here:
Approximately 129-137% of your C&J is your front squat. So since Sagir clean and jerked 440, his front squat should be ATLEAST 567.6.
People can back squat approximately 15-25% more than they can front squat. So since Sagir front squats 567.6, his back squat (high bar ATG!) should be ATLEAST 652.74 pounds. He’d probably be able to squat 700+ pounds, or even 800+! if he used the usual wide stance low bar squat (raw)…
…Judging from those lifts, how much do you think Sagir can deadlift? I’M NOT ASKING HOW MUCH HE CAN DO ON A MODIFIED DEADLIFT WHERE HE SINKS HIS HIPS LOW, AND THE BAR IS POSITIONED A COUPLE OF INCHES AWAY FROM HIM AT THE STARTING POSITION WITH NO ROUNDING OF THE THORACIC SPINE, HIS SHOULDERS MILES AWAY IN FRONT OF THE BAR! I’m talking about the usual PL style deadlift where he hitches the weight when it passes the knees like there’s no fucking tomorrow…
Oh boy…
Please take the time to think about this…
It will keep you humble…

It’s illegal to hitch a deadlift in powerlifting…
Because I can do maximal flies with the 100lbers, that places my bench at probably 500lbs because you should be able to fly 20% of your bench. And you should be able to squat at least 150% of your bench, so that puts me at 750. etc. etc etc It’s nothing but baseless conjecture until you do it.
The whole strength forum knows that you dream of performing fellatio on various oly lifters. Why would you shit in someone else’s thread about this desire?
tl;dr - shut the fuck up dude. It’s getting indefensible at this point.

LOL
Yea TYPE2B stop trying to act like you know shit, everyone here know’s your an idiot.
I’ve got to fess up, none of my DL training since this post has helped. My sq and bench have gotten stronger, but my DL hasn’t budged. I’m thinking of trying a semi-sumo stance to take advantage of my squat gains. I’ve busted ass, but haven’t made any progress since Coan-phillipi, maybe I should run that again.
We should start a little game between all of the teenagers here. Who can get to a 505 deadlift first. I’m at 415 right and I’m not going to make excuses for my weakness. You gentlemen up for it? We might want to make our own thread for it.
