You don’t know what you are talking about.
Anyway, Chris is one of the few good guys in this “industry”.
sumo is not a ‘real’ deadlift? I’m not a fan of bouncing the weight up like in the vid, but calling sumo not real is just straight ignorant.

I don’t know anything about the guy in the video, but he is not bouncing the weight up.

sumo is way more technical than conventional, I still do not know why people consider sumo easier than conventional.

The absence of a deadstop does not necessarily indicate the presence of bouncing. This is something many of the critiques of the touch and go style of deadlifting tend to not understand.
In the video, he is tapping the floor with the plates while still maintaining control of the bar, versus slamming the bar into the floor in order to create a rebound effect to move the weight up. I was actually pretty impressed with his control. I pulled 405 for 20 reps in 90 seconds (conventionally) at my last strongman competition, and just plain did not have the endurance to keep the control of the weight that way, and ended up pulling primarily deadstop the entire time.
What that guy is doing on that video is unbelievable. I don’t care about the nuances of his technique or the type of lift etc.

It actually looked to me that his form got “better” during the last half of the set. Anyway you look at it, that dude’s a fucking animal.

I love ignorance. As Th3Punisher points out, touch n go does not always mean bouncing. Touch n go is very effective for a lot of people, myself included. Deadstop, my strength tanks, my form actually tanks, fucks up my back, etc. Since starting touch n go again about 4 weeks ago, I’m well on my way back to a 600 (then beyond) deadlift.

Absolutely… He lifts it as though those are 10 pound bumper plates, fucking insanity. Even towards the end when fatigue has to be setting in he is toying with it.
I wonder how many more reps he can do if there’s no time limit.

Well, it is not such a big deal if you know that the weight he uses is less than 50% of his 1RM.

Because Sumo Deadlifts are far less ROM than conventional. Certain people are built better for Sumo than Conventional, but there’s no point denying that one is considerably far less Range of motion and therefore easier.

False conclusion.

Oh shit, has anyone told Benni Magnusson about this? Does Brian Shaw know? Does Jesse Norris know about how much easier it would be if he pulled sumo? What about Richard Hawthorne and Eric Lilliebridge? We need to get the word out to all these morons!

Though I can understand your intent with this, I feel it should be worth clarifying that Brian Shaw is unable to pull sumo in his sport, which would make his performance something of a confounding variable. Andy Bolton would be another great example though.

Doesn’t matter. He pulled 985 from the floor in the gym.
