Cortes' Test/Tren/Dbol Run

Cortes,
This thread has been very enjoyable to read through. Your diet looks pretty sound, but I noticed a few things that might help you out.

  1. Most ketchup has high fructose corn syrup. While this isn’t that “big” of a problem, it might be something to consider.
  2. You might want to consider bumping up your healthy fat intake when dropping your carb intake. Upping the healthy fat will prevent muscle catabolism and prevent your body from using protein for fuel.
  3. Be careful with consuming too much protein. This might be a different case because you are currently on juice, but I have know of bodybuilders who don’t consume much more than their bodyweight in grams of protein when peaking for contest. Reason being that if your protein consumption out does your protein being used by your body, it converts it to glucose. Like i said, I could be completely off on this, but, it might do you some good to look into.

These might be some things to consider. I might be completely wrong with my third suggestion, so it might be nice if someone could verify or correct it. Good luck man, and I look forward to seeing your pictures![/quote]

Hi Jake.

The ketchup, I know, is not great, but I have had experience getting pretty lean before and still eating it. I will remove it in a few more weeks as the fat loss slows down a little.

I use olive oil in cooking, so I think I get more fats than the sample provided indicates. Also I occasionally snack on nuts and peanut butter, so there’s some more there.

The protein thing I have no idea about, but, again, I have gotten really lean before on a very similar diet and I am right now experiencing nice progressive fat loss, so I will see if I stall out and reevaluate from there if I need to.

Thanks for your input. I’ll have those pictures up soon enough, and you guys can critique my physique and posing at the same time.

Well bud… I must say your experience is sounding very similar to mine thus far.

Especially in so far as the aggression and irritability go while on tren it seems…

To tell you the truth, I will be pretty happy to come off of it. I am generally a very laid back person, and am well known for my good mood and joking, lighthearted demeanor. Sometimes lately I turn into a different person, like a kicked dog. I don’t like not being myself one bit.

Then again, I was trying on an XL shirt today and I think I stretched it out bad enough I probably should have paid for the damn thing, and people are noticing left and right the changes that are going on, so the results sometimes make me forget about the stuff I wrote about above.

Really looking forward to the pics/posing.

When’s your show again? Mid July?

Thanks GetSwole. Hope they are worth the wait. Show is July 27th.

July 27, eh?

That will be my last day on T-Nation for a bit over 3 months…

I’d like to see some pics as well… seeing how the contest pics will be long since buried when I return…

Nice run so far buddy.

Do they not have weight classes in this upcoming show of yours? The only reason I ask is you made reference to outweighing the rest of the guys on stage with you.

Im unsure as to how lean you are however there is a boatload of sugary carbs in Surge. Not typically something that most people would be taking in while they are 10 weeks out. I also wouldnt hesitate to add in some more green veggies throughout the day as well as a bit more essential fats.

Get those pics up already so that we have something to compare them to as you get closer to the show.

Impressive dead lift #s btw especially for not doing any im months.

Thanks LillGuy. Guess it’s time to cut out the Surge, then, eh. Done. And yeah, I specifically thought about the green veggies thing when I looked at the diet I had written down. Kind of gives you a different perspective on things, seeing everything written down before you.

As for the show, I live in what is essentially rural Japan, and bodybuilding here is like it was in the 70’s in America. NOT big. So there will probably only be 10-20 competitors in the entire show, all ages, experiences and weights.

I’ll get the pics up this week. Warning, I’m still white! Melanotan use will begin in June

how much carbs, specifically sugar are u taking in right now and when do u eat them?

Hi Dave. I am transitioning into this diet so I am still not quite as strict as I will be next month, primarily because I don’t want to drop carbs or calories too low all at once and then stall out and have noplace to go from there. So at present I still allow myself to have the odd “treat” now and again like a large flour tortilla with tacos or a couple pieces of toast in the morning. However, even taking that in mind, my carb intake and overall calories are FAR reduced from what they typically are, and I lose fat pretty damned fast.

Typically, my carbs would be:

morning oatmeal 25-35 grams (plus the previously mentioned ketchup which will be removed soon and replaced with raisins and artificial sweetener)

Surge 3 scoops so 42 grams of sugar, 46 total carbs (this also gets removed from this week)

A negligible (almost) amount from peanut butter (no natural peanut butter here, but I only eat a couple of tablespoons worth a day of Skippy as “dessert.” This will probably be removed at the beginning of July

That’s really about it, aside from the aforementioned “treats.”

I know I am not the absolute strictest dieter, but as I have said before, I am a classic ectomorph, and when it is time to lose fat and I am dedicated to doing so, I can lose it fast. In other words, what I do works for me, but it probably wouldn’t work for somebody else.

I am also doing cardio for 30 minutes 6 days a week and Sunday is an intense energy systems day with my buddy that usually lasts 3 to 4 grueling hours.

Thanks for supplying your diet info, Cortes. I am especially grateful for your observations with respects to tren.

Cortes, hey brother, I am sort of silently following along here. Anything you might change up if you were doing it again, perhaps nixing the Dbol and swapping to Mast? Just curious as I will be doing a similar cycle next. And I am ready to see some pics!
The whole not feeling like yourself bit worries me as I am paid to be a nice guy, and generally to people that I want to tell off… Crossing that border might result in looking for a new job

Thanks!

Thank you, kroby. If guys like you are following with interest and supporting me, then I am honored to share my experiences.

Thanks for dropping by, Randizo. If I could change anything, I would be using tren ace instead of tri-tren, but the tri-tren was free, so what can I say? I don’t have any experience with ace to base things off of, but I will certainly be adding it to a future cycle.

And I will be adding masteron starting at week 13 (just started week 6 today).

The not feeling like yourself thing can be controlled, but it does take will power. Actually, I performed an experiment last night and let myself sleep a solid 9 hours (I’ve been getting between 6 and 7), and this went a long way toward improving my overall sense of well-being today. I have been a lot more relaxed and good-natured. So it is not just the tren causing this, but the secondary and tertiary effects that come from it.

Cortes my good man,

I’m glad your thread here and the first one are up and about. They are still the best logs out, save Jelly’s for the masses to learn from.

I want to wish you the best of luck on your contest buddy.
I know you will do great. On a side note, I don’t know what all the fuss over the artificial sweeteners is. Equal does it for me. Nothing wrong with using it, I wouldn’t go ape shit with it, but I seriously doubt it will have any impact whatsoever on your final look. Like M said in his post.

Anyhow, either way it’s your choice, but good luck and I’ll be rooting for you bro.

ToneBone

Thanks Tone, you’re the man. After reading that thread, especially MODOK’s and mbaina’s comments, I’m not nearly so worried about it as I was before. It’s another media bullshit chicken little thing, I think.

Knowing that I have all of you great guys supporting me is really motivating, and I’m going to work that much harder to come into my show looking fantastic. Thanks again!

good deal man. with my metabolism i cant eat that much sugar and still lose weight but everyone is different. currently running on 50g of carbs day, no sugar, +whatever carbs are in green beans and broccoli however i am a bad endo and under 2 weeks out.

Just caught up on things here Cortes, looks like you’re getting it done.

I’ve been following the “underestimating fat loss” thread as well, very interesting and oh so true.

If you had to guess at this point, what do you think your competition weight will be?

Hey art, haven’t seen you around in a while.

I have never dieted down to such an extreme degree before, so I’m not certain, but I’m thinking I’ll weigh somewhere between 195-200lbs.

I dropped the dbol from yesterday and started taking 50mg/ED of human grade proviron. I don’t know what kind of changes (if any real ones) I expect to see but I started taking this for SHBG properties. I imagine that at 700mg/w of test prop for over 5 weeks now that my SHBG levels should be creeping up there, and hopefully I can get more bang for my buck with this. I’ll run this until week 13 when I begin the masteron and I figure that will take over plus do a whole lot more.

I have a love/hate relationship with my arimidex right now. I will keep it low (.25mg/EOD) until I start feeling my nipples get a little sensitive, then I will bump it up and dry out and my nipples will be fine but my joints start hurting. Then I try and drop it back down again to counter this and the cycle starts over again. It’s pretty hard to find that sweet spot.

Also, body weight is finally starting to go down instead of up. 217lbs today and I am definitely losing fat at a high rate now.

Cortes,
Has your training routine changed much since you’ve started? The increased load/volume might be helping to stress out your joints too.

Another idea, swimming is a nice way to get some full-body cardio in without any joint pain. And I find that swimming gets me leaner than anything else for some reason.
