I 2nd that. Guess I really need to start training smarter now…and quit letting my hardheadedness tweak this, and that and all the other.

Speaking from experience, it is hard to let go and train smarter, but you feel so much better when you finally give in and realize it’s working.
You guys could compete as “Team Over 35 Lifters”. That would be wicked pissah!
Squat Day-
Boy, I could tell that I missed the last squat workout. The quads tired out quickly and the insides of my thighs/groin is already sore. The good news is I made it through the entire workout without any knee issues. I made sure to concentrate on my stance so as to avoid putting undue stress on the knee.
Also, the past week included A LOT of walking up and down stairs, squatting, kneeling, etc… I was hopig that all of the movement would help with the knee. Seems to be the case.
Squats
BWx10x2
barx10
135x5
225x5
275x5
295x5
315x5 - PR +1 Rep
Zerchers
275x5 - from pin 8
295x5 - from pin 7
315x3 - from pin 7 - I wanted 5 here, but 3 almost didn’t make it
Shrugs - All overhand grip
225x12
275x12
295x10
225x15
Delt Triad - (Lateral, Reverse Flyes, Forward Raises)
20sx10x2
Bench on Sunday. I am still planning to keep it no higher than 135. Looking forward to the long weekend!
Everyone have a great holiday weekend.
Nice session LS! What color mantard you gettin?
Have a great weekend!
Nice PR! And those are big Zerchers as well.
Also, I am thinking I’d look good in a nice navy blue mantard with white trim. Hmm.

Is that actually an option? And now I have to buy tighty whities…great.
My wife suggested bikini briefs with leopard print or a thong. I think I will leave her at home.
As I suspected, a google search of “mantard” did not yield any pertinent results…

They do. And it makes you wonder how you’re gonna hide your junk.
Any good singlet is filled with the ‘moose knuckles’… any way, good solid work here, looking forward to seeing you hit those numbers…
Oh, I got my last manotard from House of Pain, came if just a few days.

Thanks PeteS. I am just hoping for numbers high enough to keep from my hiding…lol.
I will check out the site. Thanks.
Question for the experience pool…
Conventional deadlift versus Sumo…which is better. I have gleaned that which one is better is very much an individual thing. I am mainly wondering about the mechanics. At a cursory glance, it appears that sumo is more leg focused and conventional is more back-centric, or at least uses the back more. Is this accurate?
I have heard that short legs and long arms are better suited for sumo. That’s me. BUT, my strength, at present, is in my back, not legs, which I would think better suited for conventional.
Any thoughts?

That would be called a “codpiece” and if you really want to just wear a cup and get the same effect. But i don’t think that would pass the equipment check…

I think you’re doing just fine with conventional pulls. Practicing sumos can make your conventional DL go up. Try them for a while and I’ll bet your squat goes up.

Thanks DCA. I may throw in a couple of light sets on Wednesday (Dead Day), just to try them out. I have never even attempted one. Helping the squats would, by itself, make them worth the effort.
Bench Day-
This is my last day at holding back this much. I did break my rule and go above 135…but only to 155. And I really, really, really wanted to do lockouts, just to feel heavier weight, as I figured it would be a limited enough RoM as to not hurt the shoulder. In the end, I decided to play it safe and just avoid them.
I will go up to 185 next workout. If that goes well, I will continue to increase it gradually.
I alternated seated rows with the 1st sets of bench and close grip pulls with the last sets…
Bench
barx15x2
95x5
135x40x2 - Yes, it says 40. I have no idea why. It just seemed the thing to do.
155x10x2
155x25
Seated Rows
90x15
160x15x2
190x12 - was going to do 15, but the DBs fell of the weight stack
Close Grip Pulls
160x12x3
Supersets
Tricep Pushdowns - elbows in…left elow still hurts on these
80x12x3
Incline DB Curls
35sx12x3
My thighs, inside towards the back, are really sore. I am guessing from the zerchers. They haven’t been this sore since I started back doing leg work. Not sure why, unless it was the week I missed because of the knee. Looking forward to Wednesday. More rack pulls and I might try some sumo DL, for the first time, as accessory work.
Quiet weekend so far, which is nice. My Dawgs lost, but so did Oklahoma. 'Bama looked great, though…‘ceptin’ for the penalties. SEC! SEC!
Oh yeah. I started taking the Synthroid (thyroid med) on Tuesday. I haven’t had night sweats for the past 3 nights. I can’t remember the last time I went that long without them. Maybe things are starting to come together.
40 reps? I’m not sure I could count that high without one of these counters that bouncer’s use to comply with fire codes. You sure packed on the volume today. Good work.

Uh, I don’t want to clothe my manhood in anytthing that comes from a place named “House of Pain”. Just sayin’…
