Nothing wrong with distinguished. What’s the ETA on the new bench?

I’m looking at the latter half of August on the bench. We had several unexpected medical bills/co-pays/prescriptions pop up over the past 3 weeks which put a strain on available resources.

Ah, I am very familiar with unexpected bills and how much they suck. Latter half of August will be here soon enough.
Chest/Triceps-
Shoulder felt much better going into the workout. By the time I got to 225#, though, it was hurting again. It does appear that something good has come of this, though. I have found that really emphasizing my arch and keep my elbows tucked longer, as well as finding an ever so slightly lower contact point on my chest, does not hurt as badly. The more flared my arms are, the worse it is. This improved form, even with the nagging pain, pushed me into lifetime PRs. WooHoo!
Bench

325x1 - PR +5# - Lifetime PR
330x1 - PR +10#
315x1
225x10
** For once I took someone else’s advice (Meat’s). When I hit the 325, I felt good and went 5 more #. I felt good with that but adhered to Meat’s advice and went back down rather than pushing it. I’m glad I did. 315 was hard. 335 would have never gone.
The 325 really had me intimidated. I must have gotten an adrenaline surge after getting it, though, because I felt weak all over and I was shaking. Almost like having buck fever. It was really cool!

All in all, shoulder aside, it was a d@mn good workout.
Who’da ever thunk that I would hit my stronget at 40 years old!?
Wow! Great job on the bench!
SSHHHEEEYIT!!! That was cool to watch. Congrats with the PR, LS

Awesome bench Strick.
Looks like once it gets about 3 inches off the chest, the bar accelerates. I bet if you did some close-to-the-chest work you’d see a big jump in poundage. Maybe reps to a 1-board?
Thanks, Gents. It felt really good.
j-willy, it was cool to do. I didn’t get as excited about it as I thought I would, though. I think I was in shock…lol.
DCA, I have been saying, for months, that I was going to get boards. I think I will actually do it this weekend. I figure I can turn an 8’ 2x6 into a 1-board, 2-board and 3-board setup.
Great benching. I’ve been doing light(50lbsx10reps) face pulls between bench sets. Seems to help my shoulders.

Thanks, eco. So doing the face pulls between sets doesn’t seem to add fatigue?
LS-- Just awesome benching!!! Congrats on that PR!!!

Thanks, SteelyD. I think the only reason it went up is because I didn’t want to be the only one not progressing!
Leg Day-
I couldn’t decide what to do today. I thought about maxing on DLs, then decided not to. I decided to push the squats and see what was there. I flopped. So I went back to rack pulls for the 1st time in a few weeks and they felt really good. Short and sweet…
Squats - all to depth (or right at it) except 405#. I seem to be going down with good form, but I am leaning forward (getting my arse out of the hole) on the way back up. Videoing these really helped me see this.
bwx10x2
barx10
135x5
225x2
315x1
365x1
385x0 - got the depth, started back up and stalled about 2-3 inches above parallel
315x3 - where I stuck on the last rep is where I failed on 385#
325x2 - second rep very questionable on depth
405x5x2 - 1/4 squats…just to feel the weight
225x10
Rack Pulls
225x5
315x5
405x5
455x4
490x1
505x1 - PR +15# - check out the redneck improv…taped a 15# db to the center of the bar, as I don’t have anymore plates (Wife authorized purchase of more since I can “lift the weights I have.” lol
Not the best rep…more pull than bar humping
510x1 - PR +20# - note 20# db now taped to center of bar. Better form. More of a slow, sensual hump. Zero speed, but hey, it was a maximal lift.
Leg Extensions
160x10x3
1 Leg Standing Leg Curls
50x10x2
That’s it. Had to stop to get the kids in bed.
Looking Strong Strick!
Watch those dumbbells around the manparts…
Good lifting and improv.
NNNIIICCCEE work LS. You are getting stronger and stronger…
Thanks DCA, hel, j-willy. Just trying to get closer to you gents…so I can play on the same playground. Every time I move up, though, so do you! The proverbial carrot and horse.
I was VERY mindful of the manparts. Hopefully new iron will be acquired in the next couple of weeks and it won’t be an issue. Of course, I’m done having kids anyway, so I can risk it…lol.
Well, unless my wife convinces me that she really does need her tubal reversed, so we can have one more. I have girded myself against this, as I do not want to become a dad, for the 4th time, at 41. I would be 60 by the time that one could move out. Not that I would live to see 60.
Strong work. I just turned 40 and my boy isn’t two yet–and we are thinking about another one. 40 is the new 30, you know. :).

I sure hope you’re right about 40 being the new 30. I still don’t think I can handle another one, though…especially with my middle one being Autistic. We don’t need to divert any more attention from him than is already happening with his brother and sister.
Good thing is the Autism is mild. He actually came in and did a few reps with me, yesterday.
Sounds like you have your hands full and your priorities straight. We would like to give my boy a sibling, but the clock is ticking. We shall see.
