Chasing Big Strick

After our 1st we talked about not having anymore. We decided it best for our daughter to have a sibling, though. I think the 3rd was because it had become habit.
She hit me up about it again last night. I don’t plan on budging on this one though. Of course, I have said that before…

Yield not, lest ye have no freedom before 65…

We figured out what caused them after the first. You better go get that vasectomy!

I stopped having sex after the first one. Is that it?

Damn DCA, I stopped having sex AFTER I had my vasectomy…

No vasectomy for me. No sir. I don’t trust any docs enough to let them that close to me.

Me either. I remember my father getting one of those. His eyes went all funny after that and he couldn’t add any more…

My dad had it done and had to sit around with ice on his crotch for 2 weeks.

I used to trust docs. After working around them for 6 years, though, I’m not sure that many of them are any more qualified to practice medicine than I am.

That’s it right there. Can you say ‘iatrogenic fatality?’ 1 million people a year, some estimaters propound.

I can say it but had to google it to find out what it is. Like I was saying…

Oh mine didnt go pretty. I picked what ended up being the coldest week of the year… Major cold weather shrinkage dont mix with vasectomy swelling.

I can’t imagine that it would. Sounds uncomfortable at best. I figure as long as the wife’s tubes are tied, though, I am good.
It doesn’t help that a co-worker (40) just found out that his wife is pregnant with twins. I told my wife I would see if we could raise on of them for a couple of years then give him/her back.

A slight change of pace, but I have a question. What do you gents think of (what experience do you have) with doing a squat day and a deadlift day each week? Is there too much crossover in the workouts, so you don’t recover enough? Or are they unique enough to make it feasible?

Depends on volume and loading. I’m doing pretty much just that and seeing good results. I’m keeping to a scheme of 1-3 90% singles followed by a 5-rep @ 80%. I adjust volume up or down based on how I feel. I may skip the singles or I may skip the 5 rep set, if I’m feeling fragged. In fact - I’m doing a squat or deadlift 3-4 days per week on this scheme, though I’ve decided that I can stand taking weekends off just recently.

Thanks, DCA. I think that I like benching just once a week…for now. The shoulder is kind of driving that. I was contemplating a Sun. - Squat, Tue. - Bench, Thu. - DL setup for my MEs.

At some point, I need to break down and drop the % and go for more reps. My strength has been jumping, but not the endurance. I think I want to hold off on that until I hit my goals, though.

On 5-3-1, I do deads on Tues., bench on Thurs. and squats and press on Sat. and think this works out well for me. I don’t feel totally recovered until the deload, but I am not totally wiped out either. I only bench once a week, but I am hitting tris through dips on tuesday and on saturday I do overhead press so this has a tri component as well.

Thanks. That is pretty much what I was thinking would happen. Not fully recovered by sufficient to keep pushing until a deload.

On a side, I just bought 2 more 45# plates. Hooray! I have given my word to my wife that I will not buy any more. Fortunately, Dad is coming out here for Christmas. He should be able to bring another 4-6 45# plates from back home. Now I just have to figure out how to get the bar here. Shipping won’t be cheap…

Good thing too. You might not have been able to keep your promise otherwise. I’m still jonesing for a second bar and more plates, though I don’t, strictly speaking, need them.

If I can get the other bar here, that will give me the 2nd…and I need it. Current bar is only rated to 500# and I now have 535# of plates. The bar back home is rated to 1000#…I think. I don’t think I will ever be stressing that one.

Crappy Workout Day-

I woke up with a hangover from a double dose of narcotics, last night. Yes, they are legal drugs. Felt like crap all day…no energy, sleepy, headache, just generally blah. Couldn’t decide what to do. That seems to be a theme of late. I decided to bench again, since I am modifying my training starting Sunday. In the end, the outside of my right arm was twinging to bad to push the bench. So, I played…

Bench
barx20x2
95x15
135x15
185x5
225x3
275x1 - Pain was too much to push

Supersets
Forward Raises
45px12x3

Reverse Flyes
40sx10x3

Laterals
30sx10x2

Wide Grip Pulls
160x10x3

Seated Rows
160x10x3

Alternating DB Curls - 1st direct bicep exercise in 4 months
40sx8x3

That’s all folks!
