Shit’s getting real. “My heart isn’t broken. It works just fine!” 2018 is in full effect: I’m preparing to get a dog. Fuck this loneliness! My heart is NOT broken.
I’ve spread the word! To my coworkers and dvm’s to keep a ear out for any dog who might fit my needs- a friendly one who isn’t aggressive- that’s all. I’ve been to 4 shelters in the last week. I have no idea how long it’ll take for me to find a buddy, but it will happen. I’m not in a rush, it just is going to happen.
Maybe I’ll even find one to do wt’d carries with like THIS GUY! Or a tiny dog to hold in my gym bag? I don’t care. I am much happier when I have an animal.

WHAT??? The 180x12 fs was a COMPLETE surprise today. 225 felt heavy as all get out though, but the 180 felt great. I think the most I’ve done on 180 is maybe 15 with worse form( knee cave). These reps today were good too, knees in the right place and everything!
I’m currently de-stinking my house. Preparing for making it a new dogs place. Febreezing the carpet…because the carpet pad’s don’t ever really smell like dog pee until its 90 degrees out like it is today then it smells, at least I can smell it. So hopefully I can neutralize the carpet smell at least for new friend whenever I get it.
My new crate should be here today too. I threw away all my dog stuff when I put Moss down so getting a crate was a big step for me as I’m a cheap bastard. Spending $100 on a object ( non lifting related!) that I can only use for one thing is a big deal since its shows intention. Last time I did that was the $79 instapot that I’ve used a lot!
Once I set up my crate, I’ll then order my dog/nanny cam. Technology is amazing now, 5 years ago when I got Moss I could never afford something like that and now amazon has them for $40! You can live stream it on your phone too so I can spy on my dog while I’m away! There’s a two way microphone too so I can tell him or her I love them too! I used to always want to text Moss while I was at work! HA HA!
Filled out a few applications for rescue groups, contacted my apartment place to get all the lease type updates to see if I’ll need to do another pet deposit or what etc.Went to two more shelters yesterday. I’m serious and it feels good. Relief IS in sight even if its months away at least its on the horizon somewhere. Intention.
I’m excited too! The world is full of dog possibility! Big dog? Little dog? Old dog? Deaf dog? Fat dog? One eyed dog? Big nippled former breeding mama dog? Giant under-bite dog? Polka dotted dog? One -ear stuck up dog? SO MANY that might be my new friend, but it will be a sweet dog. I’ve committed to a plan if the dog is aggressive- I won’t keep it. Been there, done that. A sweet dog that I can introduce to people…so exciting!

I have all my feelers out, potential dogs to date, and my crate is here! And my house smells very floral so I think my de-stinking has worked. SpyCameraNannyCam is on its way too, it has Night vision :D!
My mom is in on it too, and she knows her doesn’t mess around. Start telling all the Prayer Warriors (my parent’s church friends) and maybe I’ll find one that way! They don’t mess around either!

My African wild dog stuffy will occupy the crate until my new dog shows up in my life. I got some good news re-reading my apartments pet policy.
I can get a dog as young as 6 months which is great. There are a lot of youngsters at shelters, for obvious reasons like they are puppys and crazy but it means for me more dogs to choose from!
I have dumped the idea of using a private rescue. I know a lot have good intentions but a lot are whacky. One asked that I sign off a contract allowing unannounced visits to my home where I’d have to let the person in my house to check up on the dog, …ok…maybe…but then they say they can take the dog away at anytime too based on their visits and then charge a further $1000 for rehoming. Its a legal contract as well. Nope. Shelter babies it is for me.

No, I wouldn’t go for that deal either. People are crazy! There are plenty of fur babies that need love with no strings attached.
Mr H (Hudley the weeney dog) was on Facebook. They just wanted to get rid of him. When we went to meet the lady you could see every rib and vertebrae he was so thin. I told Jed, she is NOT taking him back! He will come live with us! We don’t have much, but we can do better than that. He was pitiful. Assholes! Mr H now…
Edit: I give my mom full credit for spoiling him rotten! He goes to Gmaws house everyday so he doesn’t stay home alone.

I sure hope I get some kinda happiness wave and the dog gets one too! I can say making the choice made me happy to at least have a direction to go to. I know I’ll still be lonely and depressed still, but not as lonely with a dog. At least I hope to be preoccupied in a positive way which is a big deal in itself. Better to be busy then idle and freaking out.
I don’t wear sadness and despair well at all, its a terrible look on me. There’s no hope for me to find good people to be less lonely with if I only offer a wild eyed look of empty, devastated heart. Gotta put in some work to try and make myself positive to attract the right stuff to come in my life and me into theirs. I’ll start with a doggo.

WHOA!!! CHICKEN!!! If you can trim a weenie dogs nails, and he DOESN’T try and murder you or hell, even if he does and you still can do it, you definitely have mad dog whisperer magic!
I am not even joking! Weenies, bull dogs, and pugs are the worst dogs to try to give nail trims to–9/10 they require multiple assistants, magic tricks, peanut butter or and or muzzles with peanutbutter and sedation!
That means Mr H has gotta love you!

WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! HA HAH AH!! Today was a surprise! It was test my 1 rep max dead lift day and I got 345 which was better then the last I maxed it a 12 weeks ago ( I got 340 then) OK! Might be a post hamstring injury PR, might be the heaviest normal deadlift I’ve achieved this year–not the heaviest ever but I can;t complain.
Because I lapped the 220! The 205 stone loads were all great, usually its not so easy to get them, as in I miss it-- the problem being unable to get it off the ground ok. Today all the loads were without an issue.
It gave me a bit of confidence so I tried the 220 and I got it off the ground!!!
Then I had the fever and just knew I had could lap this thing (get it into my lap, get it off the floor). Once I did I was so excited, also I lost my focus and had no hope of loading it but still! I laped it! It was all I told myself to do for starters anyways, get it up in my lap! Here’s a video!
Off to my parents for another load and carry day of furniture moving and hopefully some newfie snuggle time with Lum my parents newfie dewf

Thanks Chicken!!! I have a lot of work to do. I am super excited I got it up into my lap, but it’ll be a LONG time before I can load that thing. If I can it’ll have to be starting on a much lower height.
I am going to try out loading stones with the yoke ( as in over the yoke rail) and see how it goes. it might be tricky since I train alone and I might end up having some trouble. That or I’ll try adding some more pads on the floor to make the height lower on the existing platform.
I have GOT to get my front squat numbers up. That and just more crush strength. That stone is wider and really a lot harder to handle than just say the 205# with 15 more pounds on it, the diameter is larger. I think at least??

There are some cool rogue sandbags…tgare are shaped in such a way that just beg for hug carries.
