Cool! You know what is very cool too? Changing! My GOD. I notice it everyday almost a small change in my way of thinking, a small tweak that changes my whole perspective. i think a lot of it can be chalked up to aging- especially as a women.
I just…don’t care so much anymore. I am able to see my first reaction which is to acquiesce to other people …even in the most trivial of things…and now I don’t really see that I must do that. More importantly that I even want to.
I am not stupid and I know this no doubt makes me a less likable person, however I’ve seen in the last few years that if someone only “likes” me for that, they like me for a weakness of mine and once I stop giving in they dissolve out of my life. These were people I gave the most energy towards and the highest place in my life…are just gone after I changed my “tolerant” ways.
I have always known this of course, and to be honest I did not think I had much more to offer people other then what I could give them, do for them, whatever, which was a big part of being so lenient. BUT! the best part is seeing that I really actually enjoy being by myself. I’m introverted, and I’d rather entertain myself and always have been this way!
So its the same result without having to cow down to anyone. Same result but no dangling dumb ( and draining) relationships with people that are based on the wrong things.

Since I’ve been going to 24 hour fitness now only and not the turbo gym, I see a few of the same people there when I am 2:30am-4am ish spance.
One being a guy who used a power rack for all KINDS of stuff! He has his own chains, tons of bands and he does about 10 differnat angles of various exercises each set. I think he might be some kind of special dancer if you know what I mean because he will do these wild chain laterals, banded shrugs, and the splits! Everything he does is pumping- even the splits!- truly, he bounces everything and does stuff that way.
He doesn’t always use the power rack, sometimes its the pulley station and he’ll do his stuff and it always pumping/bouncing/boop boop boop you know he’s there when you walk in the door because either hear bouncing chains or bouncing HIM! I guess it works for him. He does not have a bad built at all, he looks athletic and he stays to his area so whatever! Those spilts though! HA! right in front of the mirror, those wild …bouncing…splits!
Then there is the women who comes in dolphin shorts, crew socks, tennis shoes, and a sports bra and does her thing too. That’s all she wears. She’s at least late fifties early 60’s. I am all for people loving their bodies but not sharing mid-driff back sweat, upper thigh sweat and whatever else she’s got bare on the machines no matter how young or old it is! She doesn’t look bad either, she looks like a fit older lady but…the sports bra, shorty shorts combo is what it is.
There’s also a lady with a very distinct throat clearing noise that she does on the cardio equipment. You can hear her too when you walk in the gym. She seems nice enough and I too have hated cardio so much any distraction even if its clearing your throat helps you survive the session!
The biggest enigma to me is the stepmill lady. She comes and puts her stuff in front of the best stepmill ( the one with only 1 next to is and then empty space on the other side) and disappears.
She comes back ten or so minutes later and will put her stuff on the stepmill itself, her water, a towel, wrist wraps strangely. Then she disappears again for 10 or so minutes. Then she comes back and either starts the stepmill with her on it and gets her water and kinda combination spits/sips/pours her water- or who knows what liquid since it bubbles! - all over the stairs of the stepmill itself!
I have no idea what she is doing here but the stepmill ends up covered in water on the steps! With tiny bubbles on it!!! And she keeps going on it with it all wet! Then will stop the stepmill, then will do whatever she has going on in her mind on the stepmill …its a very bazaar thing to watch as I am side by side her on the stepmill doing my own time on that devil cardio device.
I do not judge anyone on what they need to do to get through an awful stepmill session. I know it sucks! But I don’t know WHY she is doing this water thing? Everytime! I do enjoy the mystery though! If I ever talked to her and even heard her voice it’d ruin the spell of mystery! HA HA!

My workouts are way low gear with no sleep. The pull ups were a joke! HA HA! I knew it would be a sub par level day and I also know I was not going to be able to fall back asleep, and my lifting needs to be done somewhat first thing or close to first thing in my " morning".
Oh well! I did ok! I just hope this doesn’t happen more often. Off to nap until the sun comes up to get my girl out!
Being awake at 10pm and taking Malibu to pee makes me recall how annoying people can be at night. Hooting and hollering people who live in my apartment complex who are still wound up and talking loud, getting ready to go party or coming back from going out and are amped up but going to be in bed soon… and then the people buzzing around in the shadows by dumpsters… people who suddenly will appear out in the parking lot.
A very different vibe then other times of the day or evening. Its an unappealing atmosphere of darkness later at night compared to my preference of early morning. I like when no one is awake yet let alone out and about except the critters.

WOW is it wierd out. Going to the grpcery store was a veyr errie experinece with mos tof the shelves being empty and the check out line to the back of the store–at noon on a friday.
I was going to write a post about how this entire corona virus thing had me at Costco buying more then I typically do. It was an achievement for me, having more then a weeks worth of food at my house. For 2 reasons.

Because I can afford to buy said food in advance. I know all to well how it feels to be broke and have zero dollars and have to scrape for ramen and canned vegetables. In my early adulthood I also experienced being jobless and doing temp work. One temp day job was at the car wash on the assembly line. The big perk that at the end of the shift when they finished, I could take as pockets full of pennies and loose change that the vacuumed spit out from the cars. The owners let us do that. And I did just very gratefully-- filling my pocket with pennies to buy food. I was in a dumb relationship where I should have not been the only one supporting us , yet I was. I had no job for a time when we first moved to Texas until I got hired as a student CNA at a nursing home. That job paid $5/h. I earned my CNA on the job and once passed the test it went up to $9/hour to support me and my then husband. I did it too. Paid the rent, paid the car payment off, insurance, everything…as well as a dead beat’s room and board … But it was definitely hand to mouth. Every penny counts! I will never ever take for granted having money for food and HOT WATER since propane was put n the back burner for my fiances when it was a exceptionally tight month. EVERYDAY I am so grateful and I know at anytime I could be right back there with zero dollars to spare and not having a luxury of buying extra food!

When I was really bad in the opposite end of my eating disorder I chose to only buy one day of food at a time–because if I had more then that there was a massive risk I’d eat it all at once bingiging. This was a habit I only stopped truly when I got Mossimo since he was a puppy and I didn’t want to leave him in his crate more then I had to so I did two trips to the store a week- still not risking having food at my house because I was afraid I’d binge on it all. Having Mossimo in my life stopped my binging–it really did. That companionship, contentment and happiness, that relationship of mutual love of a dog did it!
So now I have 2 weeks worth of groceries in my house. I won’t binge on it either, I haven’t binged hard core in about 7 or 8 years. I’ve have had many flare ups of obsessive exercise and a couple obsessive dieting a tad to close to the line in the last 12 years, yet the bingign was what realy was so awful for me.
That is my most hated part of “recovery” from anorexia was the binigng that started after,it was a continuation of the problem in a new form. Its so opposite of what I was when I was in the deep anorexia days were instead of having nothing inside my stomach and feeling less anxious in general because of that emptiness inside me, binging was so much worse in that I was WAY more ashamed.
It’s taken decades but I think a lot of the eating disorder stuff is ACTUALLY dissolving away for me and not just being in remission. Its going away. It is still there but my god its so much less! SO MUCH LESS!!!
I visited my parents today and borrowed a cord fomr my sister for our old digital cameras. We had the same one but I lost my cord, and I was able to get to pictures that were stuck in the camera’s internal memory that I had nto been ableto get to due it being a camera fomr 2007 and the fact that technology is a bit obsolete.
Anyways, in it was a few pictures I took after I went to London for the first time. I had met a guy on myspace and we started a long distance relationship. I had flwon to England to meet him and stay for a week with him, then the next week I went with my twin to take the Eurorail to the continent. We went to form Londond to France, Germany, Switzerland, and Beligum after. it was a veyr fun trip!
I was also head deep in a bit time low body fat lean time. I had wanted ot impress this guy who I had flown to England to see and worked my ass off. He was the same size as me, same height, and I did not want that, I wanted to impress him by being lean and muscular.
I did tons of cardio. Two hours of the elliptical ( wearing 40# of wt’d vest) 2 days a week, an hour of non wt’d vest cardio the other 5 days a week plus lifting after doing cardio on top of that. And I was lean, and had glute striations and I was so shocked I took a picture. It will be the last time I’ll even be that lean- unless something bad happens! I don’t even want that anymore at all!
Here’s me head deep in it- in 2008. Lean and miserable, locked in compulsive exercising, locked in ultra restricted diet. LOCKED IN. To impress a guy who did not even know what he was looking at, or truthfully probably even care what I looked like since he actually liked me as a person. I pushed to “gotta be impressive!” thing on myself. I did it to myself because I thought if I did I’d have a layer of protection to add to my “value” as a girlfriend. LOCKED IN.

That’s it. Not a ton of energy today. Felt a bit wore out. UH I am sure I don’t need to tell anyone else this–people are going crazy. At my job the head vets are thinking of all these worse case scenarios. One that was wild to me was having the owners not ever step foot in the building, but talk to them from their cars then bring the animals in by themselves for treatment on emergency stuff. Also only doing emergency procedures and no electives- as in no dental, spays, neuters, a lot of orthopedic stuff which we do a ton of…etc. My hospital is a specialyy place so we do many facets of care that are not ER, like PT and Chemo, optho, dermatolgy.
That would be probably more because we get limited medical supplies as vet clinic compared to the higher needs of human hospitals. We’ve had a sterile disposable surgical gown shortage for a few weeks now, and face masks as well. For my side in my particular part of caring for patients, instead of disposable gowns for isolation patients I use now have only a cloth gown that we wash instead. Its not as protective yet is better then nothing.
My hospital is no joke, and we are state art medicine and very high standards of sterility at my job, Its better to not do an even remotely non emergent/elective surgery then do one with less then sterile, appropriate equipment. Sterile technique is that important. Not all clinics have the same high standard.
Coworkers are also playing a bit of hookie- I think at least!- and potentially taking advantage of the situation. I guarantee a least a handful will somehow spin this health scare into a sneaky benefit for them! Whatever man. I do hope the gym doesn’t close! If it does my lil home gym hoarding will come in handy! I’ll be ok. And luckily its warmer out now so more outside stuff is an option.
Gym is closed! Luckily I checked my email when i woke up and saved myself a drive. They sent an email strangely late- at 11:56pm to say they will be closing at midnight until further notice.
I even got an email from turbo gym saying they are closed too! They ended their email with " Looks like its time for that deload you know you keep putting off!" They know their clients!

The break will do my body good too. Its exciting to think of new stuff to try, I admit that letting go of that bit of control/ heavy lean toward compulsion in my lifts is a relief. It always is, whenever I have no choice about it…in a way its a relief IF its not due to a mistake on my part. For sure this time its not due to an injury, its not due to a stupid scenario in my personal life, its not due to having no money, or other misc issue, its way bigger then that. I’m lucky! I can walk! And I am defiantly not alone in this! Heath is wealth, man!
I’m pleased with this band v bar set up. I step on the plate and then use the vbar attachment to do upright presses- not the same as a cable for sure but still felt very nice!

This morning is was raining pretty steadily and surprisingly my girl did NOT want to go on our long walk! We did about a mile then she kept trying to tell me to turn around so we did. Once we got home I realized how drenched she actually was.
After that though I went on my own in my snow boots and speed walked the trail- 3.6 miles. I tried to time it and it was done in 46 mins, yet I am not certain. I’ll do a better job next time timing it and pushing myself for that cardio. I do like speed walking! Pumping my arms and everything!! BUTT OUT and alllll that :D!
My dogs vet is doing this
YES! I think all vets have started to do this too. We have a “concierge”’ system now. They call us on the phone first, then a gown/gloved/masked tech/vet/or vet tech assistant goes out and collects the dog or cat and brings them inside. After that ALL communication is done over the phone, voicemail, or email.
We have set up lanes in the parking lot too, with cards we place on the cars to say signal what needs to be done next for the owners ect, like “check out” which is done all over the phone with a credit card. We don’t take cash anymore or checks, and we run the card over the phone without sharing a credit card/i-pay thing.
Which can be very time consuming to say the least! They have 8 posted shifts open now for my coworkers to pick up if they want extra shift , so they can do the concierge stuff. It will involve a lot more staff to do the very basic stuff like “checkin in!”
Our medical director’s wife is a human hospital medical director, so we’ve been very proactive and trying to stay on par with the human hospitals in terms of limiting contact with people. We also are one of the few veterinary hospitals with a long term ventilator, we have 2. I have no doubt should the call come to need them my hospital would give them to the human hospitals right away.
We also use other ventilators ( though I am not sure if they are the SAME type you’d need for a non anesthetized patient) fairly routinely in the surgery department or ANY department that runs anesthesia. Some patients require it in anesthesia for even routine cases that turn out to need extra help once they are anesthetized.
I also guarantee my hospital would give them to the human hospitals if it was indicated that they could use them. I am not sure if it’d be ok to cross equipment that has been used on animals even if it was competently sterilized - and if they needed them. I am fairly sure they are human ventilators that we use on dogs and cats.
My hospital is pretty badass! I get to work with a ton of very smart, caring, hard working people.
