BP Journey: From Under 200 to 500

Hey Bench. Don’t let these whiny little pussies (ie BlackLabel) who can’t bench press their way out of a wet paper bag get your goat. They can go join the 200 pound club if it exists on TMuscle or go start their own thread. A pussy is a pussy is a pussy no matter how you slice it. Even if it looks like an ass.

The bottom line is, you posted an impressive ROM 465 pounds and reps of three for 505. Yes, you do need to work on your form, but the progress you have made such a short time is pretty fuquing good. However, it is obvious that you need to get a shorter bench so you can get a good arch and do some legwork.

I’m all for developing the upper back and that is certainly good advice. As Tate would tell you there’s no exercise that could replace bench. Proper technique, and breaking through barriers.

I think the mistake being made here is to assume that such exercises are mutually exclusive. In fact, they need to be all inclusive and do not do one exercise at the expense of the other. Stay bench pressing heavy work on your form. Like MM said up a row like a mother and develop your back. You’ll have no problem easily breaking through the barrier of 500 pounds based on the fact that you put up 465 relatively easily. Repping 505 for three at the halfway point is also pretty clear indication that you are well on your way.

Keep up the good work.

Bradzz

P.S. Black label, while you’re at it send me a cookie too bitch.

Liquid. Thanks for creeping me out with reality here. I need to get a lower competition type bench. These are pretty easy to find.

Thanks again

I’ve just seen it happen and I wish that on no one.[/quote]

That sounds pretty brutal. All the more the case to get a cage eh? Not to change the subject, but I heard some guy on the news was killed using a Bow Flex. A Bow Flex of all things? I guess he somehow got tangled up in it and strangled to death or something. Wouldn’t that be like getting run over by your own treadmill, or getting strangled to death by using a Thigh Master? LOL!!!

The worse lift injury I saw was a heavy lift doing super heavy flys. The dude’s bicep tore and it knotted up way up by his shoulder. I guess they sewed the tendons back together. It was a pretty bad injury.

ha ha!! You’re Fuquing crazy. Go get a power rack and put all this whiny shit to rest. Where the hell is your training log? Post it asap.

Bradz and Bench,

Congrats on trolling your own thread. How bored must you be to spend the whole day posting on a subject you clearly know nothing about in an effort to get normal, rational people sucked into your silly little game. There is no point in identifying how immature your posts are, it’s obvious, there is no point in identifying your motive, it’s irrelevant, and their is no point correcting your manners, they are non-existent. I don’t know what it is about your posts that has so thoroughly pissed me off, but somewhere along the way I just became annoyed at you the same way I get annoyed at people wearing toupees, they think you’re so fucking dumb that you believe that hamster weave on their head is actually hair, you think that we are all so dumb as to believe any of the shit spewing out of those fat little typing fingers. Well Bro’ here’s what I think, I think the people on this forum have been nothing but polite to you, you have responded by trying to belittle, mock and humiliate them (using parentheses). I think that your video is bogus, I think you are a d-bag of biblical proportions and I think you are either unemployed, insane or a teenager. People on this site work very hard to make their gains, they share workouts, advice and training tips in an effort to advance their sport, regardless of whether that advice leads directly to them losing a meet to a guy they gave those tips to. You are an ass, go troll a politics website, people here are actually trying to get shit done.

Bench,

Looks like your little troll is back. He is even using the bible now. Ive never heard of a bible troll before.

Little lifter is indeed little. Also little people are usually bothered by little things. But then again whos to say that a troll has to be little?

Fee fi Fo Fum I smell the blood of a Troll called little lifter. LL are you here to rub my balls too? Bench already has black label and I get you for the evening eh?

Haa hhaa!!!

Dear little lifter. Yes, indeed I am an unemployed teenager as you say who wears a toupee and has a paper route for employment. That made a lot of sense. I’ll have to keep that one in mind. Man that really hurt. LOL!!!

Anyway, back to reality. I’m glad you’ve worked very hard. That is to be commended. Perhaps you should post some of your legitimate bench press full ROM since mine is so bogus as you say. You are correct. It is bogus. In fact that’s not really me at all. It is my grandmother that I got out of a rest home to fill in for me on the bench. She’s always been the strongest one of the family.

Go get a life loser and quit trolling on my thread.

Hey Bench,

Check out the article by Tim Henriques: 18 Training Tips

If this doesn’t get you motivated nothing will. It’s relatively recent article posted on T NATION. There are alot of other resources out there as well.

lol…Ive already read that article. Very good.

Information on this website is about as extensive as it can get. I think you could probably spend years and not even be able to get to it all. I think for me, however, sticking with the basics 4 to 8 reps hitting every body part on a five day cycle works. As posted earlier I’m going to be concentrating on the back area is recommended by Mauradermeat. We’ll see what happens over the course of the next six months to a year. I’m not going to be backing off of heavy bench press at all so don’t worry about it. I have no intention on replacing one exercise for another. The fact is they are all important.

You mentioned Dave Tate a few times. Have you checked out the video that he has on this website? Dave is all about technique and he’s about as driven as any lifter out there. I recommend anyone to learn from him.

Yes I did see those videos. He was talking about guys that come into his workout facility who are doing a 900 to 1000 pound benches. Talk about crazy weight. I’ve heard of doing that amount of weight with leg presses but not bench press. These guys must have been bench pressing since before they were born. Either that or they are on some kind of bizarre steroid that no one knows about (lol…) When he said 900 - 1000 pound bench press I had to rewind it a few times to make sure I was hearing hearing him right.

Thats pretty mind blowing.

–Bench

Yes they are bench pressing the amount these days. I doubt you will get that high in your 40s but a lifter like me in my 20s I at least get a chance at it. More on the subject of age, I probably wouldn’t be too concerned about talking about being in your 40s. A lot of these guys are in their 40s. They just dont tell you that. There are some high profile figures on this website who are in their 40s. Generally, you’re at your prime in your 40s. My dad used to lift with Dave Draper (now that guy is old) but he has an amazing physique that rivals bodybuiders in thier 30s.

Yove got lifters like Al Beckles too. If you read up on his competition history you will see that he was winning competitions in his 60’s against lifters in thier 20’s and 30’s.

Hey Bench, I sent you a PM…here’s a vid of Nick Winters…

Dude is an absolute beast and one of the coolest guys I’ve “spoken with” on a forum.

Edit: This was back when he was “fat”…Now homie has a 6 pack and is still 310-315# or so…

Strength Dawg

I cant imagine bouncing that kind of weight off of his sternum. 700? Intense.

–Bench

And to think that we littlin’s are shooting for 500. :-# Well, at least the goal is in sight. 700 for two reps though? Thats friggin awesome.

Winters is a great PL but still has a hell of a lot of fat on him, even after trimming down.
