Boring But Big 3 Month Challenge

Two questions regarding Boring But Big:

  1. For example, on your Monday sample workout, do you follow 5/3/1 for military press and then do 5x10 for military? Or 5/3/1 for military straight into 5x10 bench press?

  2. Military presses are done standing, correct?

Thanks in advance!

Generally, it is recommended that you use the same lift for the BBB sets. The military press is performed while standing.

You can do either (aside from some scenarios), the book shows you how.

Would it be a military press if it was seated? Standing has advantages over sitting/kneeling/whatever IMO but in the end, you must justify the movement in terms of a performance goal.

In the book he has the opposite exercise for volume, so 5/3/1 military and then 5x10 bench. I highly encourage this as it cuts down on boredom and doesn’t beat you up on the same lift too much. Plus, you get more frequent practice in the lift. I am in month two of the challenge and loving it.

And yes, all pressing is done standing.
