Took the assistance work pretty easy today. My back is lit up and I must have slept in a weird position. It just feels off. Might hit some sandbag stuff later if I’m feeling up for it, though. If not, I’ll be sure to get some conditioning in tomorrow.
Cycle one is in the books and I’m feeling super confident about the next three weeks. Priority number one is staying on top of my food intake.
Nice wirk
Good to see the hard work and consistency paying you back in gainz. Good job.
Thanks Simo, right back at you man.
Was planning on doing log viper grace tonight but I am completely wiped out. Feeling like how I would a day or two before I get sick, which isn’t promising. If I am feeling at least slightly better tomorrow I will get some conditioning in.
Got the piedmontese order today and I couldn’t help but cook some up. Had 1lb of stir fry strips and 2 of the beef sticks. It’s still awesome and I love it. Decided I’m gifting the dynasty T Bone to a cousin of mine for Christmas, so it looks like I’ll be putting in an order for my own at some point soon. Might even splurge for a tomahawk if I really want to treat myself after (possibly) super squats somewhere down the line… @tlgains has had me fired up and thinking about that program from seeing him mention it lately… I still need to dig into the book though.
Hey man I would love to see you run Super Squats as well. That is the first thing I am doing as soon as spring semester for college starts. The program is going to be hellish along with the diet.
Hell yeah man, you are going to destroy that program. I don’t know exactly what the diet is yet other than a gallon of whole milk a day. I’m going to run through the book a couple times over the holiday break and get a rough plan together.
I am still on the fence about it right now though. I know that once I start it there’s no turning back. I just need to grow some cajones and commit or else I’ll never do it. Maybe setting a start date like you have will help ease my mind into it. I still have to figure out what I want to do after BtM… Maybe DWB again, deload and go right into super squats.
I will be doing a 5/3/1 widowmaker template after this run of DWI. It’ll be good preparation for Super Squats. If I wanted to I could run Super Squats right after DW but I would struggle to keep up with the diet. Since I’m not in college I can’t stuff the refrigerator with gallons of milk.
Having run both, I’ll say that Super Squats isn’t harder/worse than DW: just different. The best I can describe it is you go through full DW weeks over the span of 48 hours.
When I’d finish the DW squat workout, I’d start a countdown timer in my head for 13 days and 23 hours until I had to do it again, and I’d be dreading it the whole time. When you do SS, that countdown timer is now 47 hours. It means you have less time to get in your own head, but it also means the fear is more condensed because it’s such a short time. And you experience it more frequently since you’re doing it every other day.
But then you get that little dopamine release more frequently too when you rack the bar.
The other difference is the self-talk aspect. When you do DW, you get through those first 3 sets and you’re telling yourself it’s probably going to be ok, then around set 4 the fear starts setting in, and then you have to lie/threaten yourself to get back under that bar for sets 7 and onward. At any point, you could quit, and YOU have to hold yourself accountable.
With SS, that all happens within the span of a single set. You don’t ever rack the bar and have time to think about it, but after rep 13 you really start going through a journey, and each rep after that is the same bargaining, lying and threatening.
All this to say: if you ran DW, you have the tools you need to accomplish SS: you just have to use them differently.
@T3hPwnisher thank you for that awesome comparison between the two programs.
I know I’d be able to give SS everything I’ve got, I don’t have any doubts about that. Once I’m in, I’m in… My main concern/apprehension at this point is commiting to a start date or schedule. I know it’ll be all I’m thinking about until I have completed it. I wouldn’t consider myself obsessive, but I dwell on impending doom haha. Same thing happened with deepwater.
Basically this. I know it’ll be the only thing going through my mind. Deepwater is sort of “familiar” at this point, so the doors have already been unlocked and opened. I am nervous about having to do that again haha. I just have to do it and get over the “fear”.
Totally get what you mean dude. Running DW twice was unique in it’s own way. I used the “re-watching a scary movie” analogy.
As an AM trainee now, I wonder if it would be better to just get it out of the way at the start of the day, or if I’d have trouble sleeping at night knowing it was waiting for me, haha.
Hah, yeah that’s a tough call. I think no matter what time of day it’d be sitting there in the back of my mind just waiting to be thought of again.
Also, it could possibly be that I’m just overly sensitive and I’m making more out of this than I should. All I know is that deepwater was uncomfortable as hell both times I ran it, and condensing all of that suck into one set multiple times a week sounds terrible.

Got the booster yesterday afternoon. It’s been about 17 hrs since I had the shot and I’m not feeling too shitty. Arm is sore as hell though… the first thing I tested out this morning was my squatting hand position and it’s all good, so it looks like squats are a go for today after work.
For me I don’t know what felt worse, Deep Water squats or the booster ![]()
Not sure which I’d like the effects of more, either.
Jacked legs or a better chance of living… Hmmm…
Sorry you feel so shitty, my relatives all had it pretty bad too. As of right now I feel normal, I’m always tired and ache everywhere so maybe it’s just masked by how shitty I always feel haha.
Haha, I am probably overexaggerating a bit. It was pretty bad for me last night though. Now that it’s past me, I think the DW squats will be worse because at least with the booster I could suffer without having to also put forth effort!

Had every intention of doing this last night but I started feeling like absolutely garbage. Took the dog for a walk, sat down for a minute and then started sweating my ass off and felt absolutely exhausted. Slept from 7pm until 4 am today, then chilled in bed for an hour or so.
Feeling about 85% right now. Squats felt heavy but moved quick.
