Hey, kmc! Thanks…swing jumps are evil, 'cause we usually do them near the very end of a session when we’re already exhausted! There’s a guy who used to be in class who could cross the half court in 4, maybe 5, jumps tops - and his landing? Like a cat. :)
Was it this guy?
hehehe…uh, no, but now I can’t stop laughing because I’m picturing THIS guy doing it (doh! the swing jumps, I mean!)
Lol yea that is why I posted it.

Normal to picture this guy face planting.

Sorry I tend to post picts

no worries on posting pics…nice to start the day with a good laugh!

I think most adults need that daily.

Have a good one.

Great work! I am really enjoying the Kb’s myself. I just use them as some interval type conditioning between strength days but they are a butt kicker. Btw definitely going to steal that swing jump!

Hi, Germanone. Thanks for dropping by!

Regarding swing jumps, Fischer shows no mercy on those. We typically do half basketball court out then back, but last week we were running short on time; he wanted to get the walking figure eights in, so it was just one pass on the swing jumps.

Speaking of which, he introduced us to a new variation tonight in boot camp. Four vids to follow here. Enjoy!

Fischer’s Boot Camp, 2/8/12 (just under an hour total time)

Warmups:
tabletops x 10
victory rolls x 10
sit throughs x 10
Repeat 3x

ladder 1-10:
bodyweight getups
pushups

burpees x 5
skip length of basketball court (backwards on return trip)
Repeat 3x

Then the fun stuff:
alternate arms heavy rope slams - 17 each side
tire jumps x 10
farmer’s walk, two 45# KBS (length of basketball court and back)
Repeat 4x…or was it 5??

But wait, there’s more:
farmer’s walk, half court with 25#bells
double KB swing jumps, half court (1st time on these!)
sled push, half court and back (no add’l weights added for tonight)
Repeat, repeat, repeat…(it might have been 4 passes?)

Rick captured video of two of us doing the new swing jumps. Will post next.

Just a FYI the ladders are do 1 rep of each exercise then 2 reps then 3 reps alternating between the two exercises with no rest all the way up to ten. People call this cruel and unusual punishment I call it character building. LOL

Be Relentless,

Rick

Did a variation on swing jumps tonight (first time on these). Instead of one 40 or 45# bell, we used two 25# KBs swung on the outside of legs.

2nd pass on double KB swing jumps. Got arms higher but will work on exploding!

…and now for a treat. My buddy is A-MA-ZING at this! (DJ, THIS is the guy. LOL)

Last pass by H. (I noticed later that he was swinging the KBs between the legs on this pass, but so what?! Still amazing how well he does these!!!)

“cruel” - Yes.
“unusual” - Not from you. We expect no less; otherwise, what’s the point of showing up?! (I mean, this isn’t Bodypump, is it? haha, sorry, couldn’t resist!)

Hi Jean,

Those KB jumps looks deliciously evil! I’m sure your lungs were on fire!

Hi, Kairiki,
Yes, that’s a good way to describe the feeling! Had a choice for my last pass: sled push or this, and I went w/ the jumps as they were a new challenge. Just noticed a little bruise on the outside of my knee this morning…didn’t even know it was there. Swing jump battle wound!

Off day today so I plan to work on my pistols at home. Bodyweight first, then will try w/smaller KB. Plus I have 10 goblet squats (x 30KB) to do for Derek’s challenge.

Have a good one!

Those KB jumps must have been fun, but alas, they make me think of walking lunges and I’m horribly traumatized by those. Years ago, I had a gym where everyone did walking lunges, coming down the aisle, directly toward me, I’d jump out of the way at the last second . . . every workout I was afraid this would be the last, they’d get me . . . Anyway, you look good.

Hey, thanks, Cav! Funny about your old lunge-crazy gym (what was in the kool-aid?!).

We turn lunges into walking figure eights passing the KB under the leading leg. I don’t hate them as much as I did in the beginning, but I have to really work to push through that burn. I tended to stop midway instead of going the full distance in one shot, because my legs were so loaded I swore they’d split open! Often times, only way I get those done is to put my mind somewhere else - and to listen to my coach saying, “Don’t you dare stop! Finish strong - and the black line is over THERE, so you’re not done yet!” Feels good afterwards but eek, did I mention the burn?! LOL

Busy day running with the kids to prep for hubby’s simple bday celebration tonight. So tired but spent a few minutes on squats. Pistol squat practice started w/unweighted then moved to weighted. Felt better on weighted ones, though I only did a few.

Then finished with my 30KB x 10 goblet squats (challenge day 10).

Here are the unweighted pistols, L/R: 10/10 (well, on right leg it was more like 8 or 9 full ones):

Reps 2-5 felt pretty good…

Thanks for those vids. As you know, I have been working on pistols in my cast. I’m up to sets of 6. Was curious to see how you “weighted” them. Have you ever considered powerlifting? You have a phenomenal physique for the sport. How tall are you? And weight? God, I sound like a broken record . . . always trying to get women into it!
