Bitten by the Lifting Bug

First attempt, 115 x 3 x 3:

Failed on 3rd rep. Rested then tried again:

Nice work!

That 115 is so yours, You just got out of the groove. I was doing the same thing on max lifts(oh - I had that! felt strong, Im going to “try” again, but more times than not I dont get it (and I was always sincerely shocked). Ive since stopped the madness, listen to G and get it the next time I go for it. You will have to do what works for you. Well I should say I dont go after it IF I have a lot more lifting to do because it makes all that a grinder.

Love watching your vids

Next time you bench when I am around we will work on your form some more.

Last 2 weeks of the program…stay on target! lol

Thanks, Up! Yeah…I do not usually go back for another. If anything, I might try for just one rep, but usually I let it go and just work on it the next time. I knew I only had rows and some hypers/situps left for the evening, otherwise I would have left it alone.

Nice to see you logging again!

Great work!! I agree w/UP, you had that and more. Just lost the groove. Looking forward to tomorrow:)

Ahh, you need to get tight and row the bar down. Once you learn that (and some more leg drive, perhaps), the sky’s the limit for you.

The talent in here is just crazy. You really have to do a meet. You are inbued with tremendous talent.

First paragraph sounds familiar eh Jean?

I agree with the Second paragraph, lets wait for a year to compete though.

Haha, YES…I have not had time to log on so much the past couple of days, but I was going to reply to Snap that I have heard the same tips a hundred times ( maybe two hundred?). I have to transfer what my head knows I should do to my muscles and just do it.

Thank you both for the coaching; much appreciated. I am very much looking forward to tomorrow, because it’s my next opportunity to bench and work on these things. (Good God! What is happening to me? Didn’t I say I hated benching some time in the past?! Now, I’m looking forward to it? Must have hit my head or something…LOL)

As for competing:
Snap - The gals (Megaloca and HighEnergy…my buddies with whom I train under Rick’s guidance) and I have decided to look into local meets to go and see some.

Rick - Agreed that I have work to do, but if/when the time comes, I only do it if you’re my coach. Capish?

You only had to ask.

Ok we can set up a year long Macrocycle with 3 peaks the last one being your PL meet.

Will get started on the prgramming ASAP!

Weight class 114

weights :3xwk
Kbell: 2xwk
Muscular endurance 2xwk

Diet - High protein-moderate carbs-moderate fats - 4 meals a day-

Sound good so far?

will talk in earnest over the Template.

Rock and Roll. Let the games begin!

Now that got KPS attention

Looking forward to your journey, Im sure you will talk your gfs into it, if they arent on board already!

Again, a little catching up…been a crazy week…

Tuesday, 8/21/12: kettlebell
Challenging session, but you know…I am seriously having a hard time remembering the details of that class. I just recall that I was working really hard, lots of good, explosive movements, and I remember feeling that I had done my best set of sots presses EVER on my weaker side. Rest is a blur…that’s the night Rick was hurt at end of class…

Wednesday, 8/22/12: Week 8, Day 2

OHP
bar x 5 x 1
65 x 3 x 1
75 x 3 x 3 - Was supposed to be 80 here, but it was a no-go, so I backed it down to 75.

DLs
115/135/155 x 3 x 1
175 x 3 x 3 - PR, ~1.5x bodyweight (just 2lbs short). Felt good…best form on 2nd and 3rd sets. Video of 2nd set below.

Klokov press
55 x 3 x 1
65 x 3 x 1
75 x 1 x 1

Here are the deadlifts:

haha…for as quickly as you threw this out there, Meg and I think you secretly have programming set up for each of us in a little book somewhere, and you’re just waiting for the word “go.” Just kidding! Cool beans, Coach! Talk soon.

Thanks for taking and posting that, Meg! That last one was a grinder (and hmmm…felt like it took me way longer to get up out of the hole than it looked here).

So that was 8 reps @ 135 (bodyweight + 17).

Now we’re workin’…

Shirts

Friday, 8/24/12 - Week 8, Day 3

squats
95/115 x 3 x 1
130 x 3 x 1
145 x 3 x 1
160 x 1 - Unable to come up out of the hole on 2nd rep., backed off and went for reps on next set below
135 x 8 x 1 - Got 8 here, probably should have gotten more if I had paced self and watched my breathing…(Meg posted the video of this set above).

bench
65 x 5 x 1
85 x 3 x 1
110 x 1

Had trouble benching 110 yesterday. Spent rest of time working on adjustments with Fisch…wider grip, setup (seems that even with a liftoff, my shoulders move too much after setting up, but when the bar is racked lower, it works better…I keep blades squeezed and pressed into bench, keep arch/chest higher). So we worked a few different weights and continued working on rowing the bar down and exploding up. A bit sore today.

Skipped Pendlay rows due to the extra time on bench.

End of Week 8 on program with one more week to go! Have learned so much and come so far in 2 months! Thanks, Rick and crew!

Saturday, 8/25/12
morning KB session
Light work today mostly to get a good stretch. Right hip and IT band are quite tight right now.

Ok, time to head out into the sunshine. Happy Saturday, All!

And the front of the crew’s tees…

HoJo’s says “Ladder…From plank!” - a “fave” Rick-ism from boot camp.

EDIT: We seem to be covered in chalk, huh?

Great Pic…and yes chalk is our friend!

Monday, 8/27/12 - Week 9, Day 1
bleh…got sick on Sunday with bad stomach pains, chills and fever, so Monday training was a no-go. WHY this week when I wanted to finish the program strong?! Hopefully can recover well enough to resume regular training tomnorrow. Grrrr…

Need lots of rolling and stretching - and water! - today, so that’s my big plan.
