DAAAAMMMMNNNNNNNNN…
off the top of my head…
foreman vs. frazier 1
roy jones vs. vinny paz
oscar larios vs. wayne mccullough (best chin ever!) 2
bas rutten vs. masakatsu funaki
not necessarily beatdowns…but tremendous wars:
bowe/holyfield trilogy
-holy is far outweighed, is less skilled, outgunned power wise…takes shots that would crumple most heavies…and still finds a way to stay in every fight…warrior!
gatti/ward tilogy

Best fight I have ever seen. Those guys beat the hell out of each other. Unfortunately Kim died.
I remember this. Didn’t Mancini retire partly because of this?

The Michael Spinks - Mike Tyson Fight back in 1987 - 1988. My friends and I paid the ungodly sum of 45 bucks to watch that fight on PPV - back when fights cost like 20 bucks.
I had to take a piss - and missed the entire fight. It wasn’t a marathon beat down - but Tyson knocked the want-to right out of Spinks in less than a minute.
Or - in less time than it takes a half drunk college kid to take a whizz.
How do you say it? Tyson knocked Spinks the fuck out? Something like that.
Yep. Saw that too. I’ll never forget that knockout.

-Fedor Emelianenko vs Gary Goodridge
Gary was a pretty decent fighter, which made the mauling he received over the next two minutes somewhat shocking. Fedor broke his hand from hitting Gary so much and so hard in the flurry he unleashed.
-Fedor Emelianenko vs Zuluzinho
Zulu was undefeated in some shit Brazilian boxing league. He said he could knock out Fedor. He was wrong.

Don Frye vs. Kenta Takayama in Pride. Awesome toe-to-toe. Not much skill, just pure brutality.

On a similar note, Ray Sefo and Mark Hunt’s fight in K-1

Holy fucking shit… as the kids say.
Don Frye is a bad, bad man. Especially for a Village Person.
What’s he actually weigh? Sherdog lists him at 210, but he looks much bigger.
As for best beatdown… I’ll go with my favorite, Lennox Lewis abusing Mike Tyson. Not the most brutal, but damn that was fun, watching him eat leather round after round.
“I want to eat your children. Praise be to Allah!”

I sure hope that Sapp didn’t learn his boxing skills from a boxing coach. I’m not sure why Sapp thought it was a good idea to hold his hands at navel level.
I posted a video in the My T-Nation section of Bas Rutten trying to teach Sapp some fundamental boxing combo’s. It’s rather amusing.
Another recent boxing beat down is Lacey vs Calzhaghe. Utter domination by Calzhage.

Surely killing a guy has to rank as #1? … was a great fight, but boom-boom was never the same after.
The Frye-Takayama fight is like a 4 minute long drunken hockey fight. I can watch the first 30 seconds over and over again.

Sapp officially lists his fighting style as “NFL Smashmouth”.

Curse you! I wanted to be the first to say that. But don’t forget Germany vs. France. Twice. ![]()
On the subject, Foreman/Frazier, is one of my favs. I haven’t seen many MMA matches though (no cable).
And one of my favorite fights, though not a beatdown, Sugar vs. Hagler. Constant combos from Sugar that looked like they were lightning strikes. Even in the very last rounds.
My favourite beatdowns:
De La Hoya vs. Trinidad. DLH made Trinidad look clueless… and he lost.
Fedor vs. Zulu for obvious reasons.
How about the Barrera/Morales trilogy?
Pacquiao’s beatdown of Morales (second fight).
Fedor’s beatdown of big Nog in fight #1. Anyone else would have been KTFO’d after those flurries of head shots. Nogueira didn’t do a thing in that fight.
Honourable mention: Russia vs. Germany
Dishonourable mention: Russia vs. Japan

Are you kidding??!!! That’s the best beatdown so far! Holy Crap, that ref just tossed that chump like doll. The best part is the other fighter taking the cheap shot after the guy gets tossed. “and take that also!” That is great.
Chuck Norris roundhouse kicking anything. That guy could beat down a fire truck.

1919, Jack Dempsey vs. Jess Willard.
Dempsey knocked Willard down 7 times in the first round. Willard didn’t answer the bell for the 4th round, because he had several missing teeth, cracked ribs, a broken nose and jaw, and his eyes were swollen shut.
How about Tyson-Biggs?
Roy Jones-Virgil Hill where Jones broke Hill’s rib with one right hand shot. You can hear it.
Kharitonov beating down Schilt’s face. He didn’t just get mount he was kneeling on Schilt’s neck.
Mayweather=gatti and Calzhage-Lacy were pretty one-sided.
Ibeabuchi stopping Chris Byrd. Ibeabuchi caught Byrd with uppercut/hook(could be called either from the way he threw it). Byrd got up had drool coming out his mouth trying to say he could go on, tough guy.

Larry Holmes vs. Randall “Tex” Cobb was a classic. Holmes just beat the pretty out of Cobb (lol, ugliest MFer ever), but Cobb was the toughest SOB because he wouldn’t go down. He was out cold on his feet and couldn’t function, but he wouldn’t fall. It was amazing.

Sounds about right.

Good one! Forgot all about that. Does film exist? From what I’ve read it was absolutely horrific.

I believe that move can officially be qualified as “rag-dolling” someone.
At first I though he did a throw on the guy, hip sweep maybe. Look again, he just picked his ass up and slammed him.

My favorite part is still when the weenie dude comes in from the right and gets in one last punch as the guy is lying on the ground, then the ref chucks him also.
