What are some of your picks for the worse beatdowns of all time? I’m not talking some weak ass flash KO where the guy is walking around 20 seconds later looking fine, I’m talking serious physical destruction. It could be boxing, kickboxing, MMA, some random fight etc. Video clips if you have them. I’ll start it off with these two:
-Foreman vs Frazier, HW Title 1973
This fight stands out in my mind as the biggest beatdown of all time because of the quality of the opponent. Frazier was a 3-1 favorite to beat Foreman. Instead of another win for Frazier, he got absolutely beaten to death by the time the referee stopped the fight in Round 2. Foreman recorded 6 knockdowns in 2 rounds, a feat yet to be repeated in a title fight, possibly any heavyweight fight. Everytime Foreman hit Frazier he flew back like Foreman was swinging a sledge. This is also the fight famous for “DOWN GOES FRAZIER!..” call that people sometimes wrongly attach to Ali-Frazier.
Igor Vovchachnyan vs Enson Inoue, Pride 10
Igor was the most dangerous striker in MMA at the time, and Enson said he was willing to die in the ring fighting him. Well, Enson almost pulled it off. His brain swelled so much from the 10 minutes of ground and pound brutality that he reportedly had inner ear and corrdination problems for several months afterwards. It got real scary when the referees reset the fight from the ropes to the center of the ring and they literally drug Enson’s semi-limp body across the mat into position for Igor to continue pounding his skull into the floor.

Hmmm I’ll give you one guess as to why MMA is having a hell of a hard time in the US.
Larry Holmes vs. Randall “Tex” Cobb was a classic. Holmes just beat the pretty out of Cobb (lol, ugliest MFer ever), but Cobb was the toughest SOB because he wouldn’t go down. He was out cold on his feet and couldn’t function, but he wouldn’t fall. It was amazing.

Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini vs Duk Koo Kim (Spelling?)
Best fight I have ever seen. Those guys beat the hell out of each other. Unfortunately Kim died.
Ray was never the same after that. He’s still pretty much worshipped here in Youngstown. I think this was the fight that ended 15 rounders.
I’ve never seen Holmes vs Cobb, but have read about it. I’ll have to dig it up.
Holms hit him in the face until Holm’s arms were tired and he would not go down . Besides not going down he was jumping around like he won the fight at the end.
The Michael Spinks - Mike Tyson Fight back in 1987 - 1988. My friends and I paid the ungodly sum of 45 bucks to watch that fight on PPV - back when fights cost like 20 bucks.
I had to take a piss - and missed the entire fight. It wasn’t a marathon beat down - but Tyson knocked the want-to right out of Spinks in less than a minute.
Or - in less time than it takes a half drunk college kid to take a whizz.
How do you say it? Tyson knocked Spinks the fuck out? Something like that.

Ray Mercer vs Tommy Morrison: Morrison was out but his ass was hung up on the ropes in the corner so he looked like he was crouching down. mercer hit him with 12-15 huge shots before the referee stopped the fight.
Ali vs Jerry Quarry and Ali vs Chuck Wepner: Like Holmes vs Cobb these bums bled like stuck pigs but hung around for terrible beatings.
Alexis Arguello vs Ray Mancini: They beat the piss out of each other for 14 rounds until Arguello knocked Mancini out. Mancini was so swollen and cut up his face looked like a Jack-o-lantern.

My favorite fight was Wilfred Benitez and Sugar Ray Leonard 1979. It was not a beat down but it was a great fight.
Great fight. Benitez was one of my favorite fighters.

That fight was one of the most overhyped fights ever. Great white hope my ass.
