Human studies concerning AAS are limited, and the ones that exist are not very useful as they top out at 500mg of Test or so…the study linked above might be what you’re talking about?

500mg of pharm grade test is probably equal to way more than the 500mg of UGL test ppl use though lol

Lol yeah unfortunately, but even that doesn’t approach the doses that even just a competitive amateur would use. We’ll just have to take what we can get.
These poor guys were relegated to 28 days of bed-rest, so practically no physical activity. They got 50 mcg of T3 to induce catabolism and isocaloric diets, and half of the participants got 200mg of Test E–not too much beyond an HRT dosage. Still, the testosterone group gained 4 pounds of lean mass, compared to the placebo group which lost 3 pounds.
4 pounds!!! from being bed-ridden! And on a small, small dosage of AAS, no less.

300 reps, as in one set? I find that really hard to believe.

Seemingly so.
But consider the sheer number of “reps” required in the sports that Heiden competed in. Speed skating and Cycling require elite conditioning. The man was a machine.
