Betty Strong

Spin bikes are a whole other animal. The ones at my gym are pretty good but it seems to go from easy to killer in a matter of millimetres.

you think I haz mass?
Thanks Ink!!

I’m going to give it a try anyway. too much volume on the legs in a day makes for cranky knees even before I’ve left the gym.

Cal- thanks lady. I’ll let you know how it goes!

So I got some more lab results back for my thyroid and they aren’t great.

Dr. is now referring me to a specialist. With Hally’s opinion(HALLOWED) she thinks I may have what is called Reverse t3 syndrome.

Ingesting T4 only pills are making me sicker and am not converting T4 to T3 like normal. Or something like that. It’s all very HUHHH???

But without seeking out specialty care I don’t know for sure. I just feel lucky in that I am not losing clumps of hair at a time or laying on the floor listless. Or any other pathetic symptom. Basically I’m just fatigued and have been for years, so I’m just used to it?? And Not sure how I am able to lose lbs when most people gain a bunch of weight.

I’ll look forward to the day when I’m bouncing with energy once again and the extra lbs melt off.

I’m not even sure if I should pursue increasing cardio and stuff. Should I continue on like nothing is wrong?? I don’t know.

Aw Mimsy!!I’m sorry…But I’m so glad you’re getting everything straightened out, even if its all very confusing right now. You’re on the right path! Don’t let the train derail. Its just like any obstacle in life - one must persevere! Chest bump!..and hugs

On that note - you probably need to come to NYC to see a specialist, who specializes in stuff that’s special and important, like thyroids and things… (please say yes, please say yes)

Also, all this talk of thyroids - how does one know if they have a thyroid problem? How does this stuff develop?! Need answers!

Sweet baby Jesus! I just looked up Hypothyroidism and it looks like just about everything causes thyroid problems!! Except, for like, weed…so yeah…

gulp

Get better, mama!!

Good luck with the thyroid shit Mimsy, you’ll be 100% before you know it, if you just seek out the right help

And you KNOW you got mass, don’t try to hide it. LOL

Hey Maschy!!
For me personally, the first signs of a ‘thyroid problem,’ showed up while I was pg w/my daughter.

my understanding is that if you have the autoimmune variety, your body is just waiting for a stressful time to start attacking. (pregnancy induced, in my case)
But thats just a theory.

This whole other syndrome thingy is a different animal. I don’t think it’s very common, and many Doctors don’t believe there is even such a thing.

I will have to find an excuse to come to NYC one day. the recreation department here on base has day trips where you pay 90$ to ride a bus up and back…hmmmm

THANKS INKY!!!

And I’m trying, believe me! No giving up now!

12pm- 1 cup greek yogurt

Glad you got that referral to a specialist. Hope you get in soon. You are doing awesome with training and diet even though you’re sick—you’re going to kill it when you get well. GET WELL!

spin bikes are evil and full of goodness

sorry to see you so down
wishing wellness to sort out your thyroid stuffs.

dang mimsy… that doesnt sound like very much food?

hopefully the specialist can hook you up

your pictures show some great progress Mim!

yeah for squating without pain!

My knees have started doing some awful crunchy noises when I walk up stairs. Now everytime I climb stairs, I think of you. How romantic…

no pain though. I need to figure this out.

And glad to know the cardio is working over crash diets. I’ll refrain form saying “I told you so”

well, we’ll see. progress is still going to be sloooow until I get these fuckin hormones in check and on the right medicine. Better than crash dieting tho.
Been chasing my tail for nearly 5 years now. But I see the light, no stopping now.

My Doc also put in for a consult with an Ortho for me and an MRI. so yay. PT isn’t really getting me anywhere, that I can tell, but then again they don’t know exactly what they are dealing with. Squatting hurt again yesterday…

Had PT this morning, then went to the gym. Probably shouldn’t have gone. Workout was half-hearted. I’m exhausted and had no energy drink.

daughter woke with a 'nightmare,'she says about zombies. Was hard to get back to sleep after.

At least at the gym I got to try out bike hell on the spin bike… way more hellish!! you can max out the resistance to where you can’t even move the pedals, lol. It’s a keeper.

Nadia- thanks. It’s what I’m hoping for. I dream of the day!!

Greg- not to worry. Just having an off week.

KM- thanks pal. it’ll be ok!

N- careful with them knees. Does it hurt while your doing anything else or later in the day after you’ve squatted??

Aw poor MiM. I see that knee-itis is contagious around here.
Yes, no more of that crash dieting, you have seen the light my child.
Your daughter sounds a lot like me with the scary stuff at night & I still have yet to grow out of it, lol.

I’m contagious, haha!

…don’t be me and keep doing stuff if it hurts though!! I probably made whatever is going on worse.

I started doing ‘controlled crash diets’, desperate to drop the lbs…(I used to be 230+)
The moderate approach was not working but that was before I understand fully what was going on.

I think a thyroid person is always going to have work extra hard to maintain there stuff, even when on meds. I wasn’t giving it my all back then and I thought cardio was teh debil.

I wonder now though, if there is even a point to ‘cardio,’ if I’m just spinning my wheels. Is it only helping me not gain weight? If I up the cardio too much now, what about when I’m finally optimized with the meds and ready to attack?

Hey MiM, where did you get this bike workout? Bike is the only thing I can do. Did you say it was a Cressey thing? Do you have a link?

Labia!

BAM!

took a nap…managed some intervals on my bike.

2 min long/high resistance(3x)

5-30s ‘sprints.’

I think I am 2-3% Bf away from these bad bois poppin! I decided to pretend I am not ‘sick.’ Thyroid shmyroid. If progress stalls or I crash I will ease up. I won’t force extra cardio but when the energy is there, game on.

Starting to get some seperation in the upper area of the leg…sweet. Never noticed it before.

stoopid camera!
