I’ll be checking your log every hour, on the hour for PT updates…
Goodluck darlin.
well that wasn’t too scary.
Got my knees taped! (made me think of Veggie)
…in plain Engrish my knees are not tracking(at all pretty much) how they are supposed to. And it all starts with the feet!!
She said I’m strong as an ox, but my end of range motion is weak.
I walked backward on a tread mill for 10 min. haha, I always made fun of people doing that ![]()
And then I did end range of motion leg press thingies…only bending to 45 degrees and then straightening. My legs don’t know how to straighten, they just want to hyper-extend.
I was mainly there for my knees. I wanted to ask about my shoulder/elbow but that wasn’t in the plan. I go back Thursday…
awww, thanks Dash!
Hey Mel- your so random…haha. Thanks for stopping in…
I’m hangin in there. Trying to go from so-so, to WOOHOO!! Whats up with you?
So I guess this range of motion thing. I gotta figure out how to lock it out without hyper extending since I’m pretty bendy.
Like when you squat down and come up, how do you lock it out? Do you straighten your knees completely and flex the quad/butt?
Not sure if that makes sense.
But no full range of motion squats for me for awhile
But I can work the top half(end range)
Everyone out of the chairs…go to your nearest mirror and try it. ![]()
sounds like your PT appointment was really informative. Thats great!
^Fo sho!
Thanks Greg…

Steak salad(spinach, tomatos,mushrooms)
avacado/sour cream
Mim: Glad the PT appt went well—definitely sounds like something that can be improved upon. Hope you get your knees back soon!
My leg press sounds like that, although it’s the hips and not the knees that limit my RoM.
Did you get the sort of taping where your kneecap is taped into a slightly different position? I used to get mine done that way when I had my ITB problems. My knees also hyperextend a bit.
Eats sound good.
Nadia- I’m hopeful!!
After wearing the tape just over night I can already tell a difference. I walked up the stairs without wincing in pain.
Cal- yes, it was tape like that…but not meant to last long. In fact it all came undone while I was sleeping…grrr
Knees feel unstable now without it. I may look into getting my own tape and learning how to do it myself…which the PT said would be ok. But I didn’t ask how often I should wear it?
I go back tomorrow!
PT said I have very strong hips.
She gave me 110+% on hamstring/hip flexibility-strength. Its all a matter of making the quad muscles coordinate with the knee.
Are you sore at all today from yesterday’s PT?

…WHO DOES THIS SHIT??! seriously. I was laughing! It was either that or cry. can’t wait to do it again…

I lol’d…and loved the “can’t wait to do it again” part! Looking strong momma! So glad that you started PT. I still think that you should have a Lyme titer just ‘cause I am a NE gal and we can’t help it when we hear of knee pain and fatigue. I know that the thyroidz and adrenals come into play here, but… Even if you have nevah had “the rash” or think that you haven’t been bit by a tick, like evah…sometimes, you never know. Just sayin’ <3
I’m glad you’re getting that knee pain fixed up. With good knees and the thyroid working, you will be a beast to be reckoned with in the weight room!
Dasher- not sore, but I can tell the difference between tape/no tape. Feeling the instability.
My gym sells k-tape, so I got some and will take it with me so my PT can tape me back up and so I can learn how to do it myself.
Sarah- thats the plan!! I miss squatting and lunging
And Sprinting! I want to do all the things I haven’t been able to do for a long while. In fact, in the gym today while I was doing my lame treadmill walking, there was a girl doing some serious jump roping. Fancy one footed work, spins and twisting of the rope…I was thinking that jump roping is something that I’ll take up once I can. I used to have timed jump roping contests with myself when I was a kid ![]()
Having a low energy day. And my tummy hurts. I think I may have ate some not so good mushrooms with my salad last night…
Made it to the gym anyway to keep the blood flowing. Body weight circuits and walkin on the treadmill. Also practicing my backwards walking…so awkward!
I am allowed to work the top half range of my squats…but only to the point BEFORE my knees grind. What a joke! I squat down maybe half an inch?
Next appointment is tomorrow! Going to be working on walking forward using a band amongst other torturous things. Which made me wonder if pulling/dragging my tire could be used soon on my own ![]()
Do you do terminal knee extensions? They might help you.
Knowledge is power.
Sounds like you have some direction on the knee issues and now can make some progress towards being pain free there. Good stuff MiM’s.
I had to look up terminal knee ext. Looks good and I tried it out!
I also figured out another way to work my quad without bending my knee. you attach the ankle thing on and stand near the cable and swing your leg straight out and hold for about 2seconds!
In the gym lighting my legs looked pretty buff doing that. ![]()
Ya, I’m just a muscle head at heart, lol.
Pretty good back session today. Gave one of the tri sets a try that was featured in the indigo bootcamp livespill. Not sure if any of you are following along.
It was pretty wicked!!
did some oh pressing movements…Nodda…I got some kind of elbow/shoulder thing going on. Looking up symptoms I think it’s biceps tendonitis. I’ll bring it up at PT but I think I have to have separate referrals for each body part, lol.
Best thing I can do I guess is not to do any kind of OH pressing movements for a couple more weeks and see if it goes away.
Sounds as though you have some inflammation going on.

MiM, have you ever been tested for Lyme disease? Just how you describe your knee pain has me suspicious.
Oh and HAI![/quote]
I think I thought to ask her this before, but I don’t remember if the thought made it to typing. My mother has Lyme, undiagnosed for 25 years, and it just about killed her.
Primary Symptoms:
Thyroid problems (could’ve been separate but who knows?)
Adrenal problems (extreme nerve issues as well)
Joint/knee issues
Mental issues - losing memories and foggy recall
Hmmm…she’d never seen the rash or anything either. The difficulty with Lyme is that it is very hard to test for after the initial infection because it moves out of your blood, and into your tissues…like your joints, heart, brain, whatever.
Getting a thyroid Dr is a walk in the park compared to getting a Dr who will work with late-diagnosis Lyme, but if my mom hadn’t found someone willing to work with her, she’d be dead right now.
Anyway. Hi.
EEEEK! you guys are freakin me out, lol.
I’m fairly certain I just have a thyroid problem. First sign of it was 5 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter.
And I’m fairly certain I have shitty knees thanks to my Father. Thanks for nothing, Pop. He’s had numerous surgeries.
According to the PT, my knees suck because of genetics and I have sucky ankles that roll in also greater than normal Q-angles. Knee problems normally start with the feet which I thought was interesting.
Having said all that, I will still ask about the Lyme thing. Sounds scary. Glad your Mom is ok now PMPM!!! Have you ever been tested for Lyme?
Physical therapy this afternoon was good.
Twice a week from now til who knows when! I got some kt tape and the PT did one knee and I did the other.
She said I can do things that don’t hurt. But to identify what is pain and what is just the arthritis. That’s tricky!
