Betty Strong

Sorry you’re having sleeping problems.
Have you tried melatonin or ZMA?

I like caffeine pills for a pre-workout stim on days that I’m feeling tired.

I don’t know if it would work for you, but if I’m feeling particularly tired, I’ll watch a motivational video of lifting/BBing on youtube to get myself amped up.

I don’t think they even make Zimas in the US anymore man…

Sorry to hear about the sleep troubles mim… Hopefully you’re passed out right this instant and sleeping like a liiiiiittle baby

Ah yeah I’m still not sleeping properly either. Hmm, maybe you should’ve given the little munchkin the pills, but I know I know, against the law.

I don’t think anyone could fall asleep anywhere near my Vibrams!
Betty, sorry to hear about your sleep issues. Not being able to sleep when you’re so tired just has to suck donkey dick.
I find ZMA helps - is gregron right that it’s not available in the US any more?

Are you taking the thyroid meds properly? It took me a while to figure out it HAD to be am and empty stomach for a while before and after. Maybe that’s an issue?

I agree with cycling off coffee for a bit, yous should mention your caffeine intake to the doc when you go.

Yes, it was all said in my best mommy voice impression.

No, I’m not taking zma or melatonin. Generally I’m a good sleeper. Slept like a rock when the hubby was deployed. But I’m a light sleeper otherwise. And the daughter waking in the night was not helping!

Yes, I’m taking my thyroid pill properly. Patch–you have teh thyroidz too??

Cycling off coffee???! GASP! It’s only 1-2 cups in the morning! (ok, maybe sometimes 3 on the weekends)
I could ditch it in the afternoons for sure. Even then it’s not everyday.

The heart palps started last month…and come on in the evenings when I’m the most fatigued.

MT- don’t joke. Some parents will give there kids benadryl and such things…

Daughter got out of bed just 10 minutes after I put her down last night, lol… Hubby went in there instead to make it less appealing. I love on, hug and cuddle her all day. She has to wait til MORNING to get more Mommy. We pinky swore!
She stayed in bed the rest of the night, thank COD!

Made it to the gym but nothing earth shattering to report.

Any kind of OH pressing was bothering my shouler/elbow though. Peesing me off!

Shoulder warmers

Lat pulldown

tested some db oh Presses

Straight arm pulldown

tested some db benching

Wide grip cable row

RDLS

side/bent lat raise(these don’t hurt!!!)

Cardio’d for 20 minutes—10 on spin bike/ 10 on treadmill

In a thorough stalking of you, I have to ask: What did you decide to do with your hair?

If I decide to cut it, it will be juuuust above my shoulders. It could take months to decide though

In January I cut 7 inches off…
baby steps.

My husband took our son out for a baseball game last night. That meant I had a couple hours to quietly veg out. I stayed up too late and of course that meant the early morning stalker returned to my door. grrrrrrrrr

Foods yesterday-

9am
plain yogurt mixed with strawberry jam(homemade)
almonds

1pm-
corn bread casserole(hamburger, kidney, pinto and black beans)
put sour cream and salsa on top…NOM!!!

6pm- more of the same

Not stellar but not horrible out of the grand scheme.

I was thinking back to that pizza I gorged on last Friday and am wondering if that has anything to do with feeling extra shitty this week. Like I broke my insulin.

Was it a normal pizza (not the meatza)? I always feel bloated, shitty and achey if I eat a lot of wheaty stuff.

yep, normal doughy goodness.

Made it to the gym of course…cause Im stupid or stubborn, not sure which.

Pretty good session though. Shoulder decided to behave as well!

Hate to admit it, but my chest work took place in the smith machine. I am even feeling the pumpz and it did not hurt my shoulder.

My knees are aching and I haven’t even trained legs in a week :frowning: :frowning: so vewwy sad. PT on Tuesday!!

Training–
4x10

cable rows- 50lbs…technically correct…pulling elbows straight back and squeeezing
incline smith- 35s

bb rows- 85
flat smith- 35s

incline hammer curls- 17.5
6 ways- 5s

rope cable curl- 40

Tricep rope pressdown- 40

reverse grip tricep press- 40

1 leg hypers…yessss- 3x12

Spin bike sprints…I have a question here. For the ‘work part,’ do you go as fast as you can on a ridiculously hard incline or do you just work it as if you feel like you could not do more than a minute? I did slow ‘climbs,’ on very high resistance.

I know now how cyclists have fantASStic butts

MiM, I just don’t know how you do it, never feeling the best AND have kids. You MUST be a very stubborn hard headed woman

Benadryl, really, I’ve taken that a couple of times before, knocked & dazed me out for 24 hours. I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised at some people.

I love the spin bike.

I’ve been on thyroid meds since high school. It’s only a problem when I’m non-compliant; otherwise it’s a non-issue.

Dinner.

Hamburgers wrapped in love <3

MT- I don’t know either. But actually once I get, training wakes me up. It’s that self talk that gets me there…and lots of caffiene.
When I think of the alternative of sitting at home while my fat cells enlarge, the choice becomes easy

P- hmm interesting. How long did it take you to find the right dose? Any chance you can wean off and see what happens? or do you have the autoimmune variety such as myself?

LIKE

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACON!!! Those look amazing!

i tried the brown sugar candied bacon tonight… but I cooked them too long :frowning: I still ate almost all 10 pieces (fatty boom bah) but I’m gonna work on getting the time down so they’re perfect.

any tips?

when i used the stationary bike for my cardio i altered the work part…

i had some good (well i liked it) techno-type music that had a good beat. i’d pedal in time with the music (or aim to). i’d set the bike on ‘rolling hills’ so the intensity varied. sometimes pedaling in time with the music was recovery (between hills), other times it was work. mostly i didn’t use my hands (not sure what cardio machines have against you using your core to hold yourself upright). when that got a bit hard i’d lean forwards (couldn’t for too long or would feel it in my back). when that got a bit hard i’d stand up and try and use some bodyweight to help me keep up with the music. the idea of the music… is for it to be just a bit too fast (but not crazy) for me to actually pull off the whole keeping time with the music thing - when the hills got tough, anyway. that always motivated me to try and keep up better next time.

think i gradually worked up to rolling hills on setting 16.

Mmm those bacon burgers do look fantastic.

Hey Ronda…thought that might draw you in… you and your friends do really awesome things with bacon!

Greg- start slow at 350 and keep watch every 5 min or so, depending on how burnt you want it
I think total time is about 15 min til a good done-ness.

Alexus- you crank the resitance up so much you don’t need hands to hold on?? Am I understanding right? lol

Weekends are the hardest food wise for me. My family does not eat the exact way that I do…and when everyone is home, restraining from the bites licks and tastes is HARD. I think I will save Saturdays for a couple free meals to make it easy(er)

I tend to fast most of the day on Sundays anyway and drink extra water
… And its my active rest. getting ready to go out on a nice long walk.

I was walking around this morning with my knee sleeves on. Its sad that I could walk up and down the stairs with them without hurting. I feel old. And I can half squat without hurting…

Question- is there any benefit to squatting above parallel if you have knee issues? Is it worth it?
