Haha. That last video reminds me that one of the bars around here has started doing '90s night. How old does that make you feel?!

ancient, and i was young in the 90’s.

heard lenny kravitz and green day on the “rewind” station last week… if i had a soul it’d have been crushed!

mimsie- if you’re having ouchie knees, you better get those fixed before you hafta do a PT test…

I was in the 20s during the 90s. Now I’m in my 40s. I guess I am old!

Hooray for finding a good doctor!

That video only makes me feel a little old. I remember the stuff in it, but I was still pretty young.

Thanks everyone…

It didn’t have to be as complicated as I was making it. Lesson learned.

Woke up yesterday to go get blood work and should have the results in a couple more days. I gotta say starting the day w/o coffee is BRUTAL . Had to be fasted since I was getting my glucose tested as well. And the rest of the day just SUCKED. grr

The kids at each other’s throats all day are not helping my existing anger issues and heart palpitations. Last night my heart was fluttering for 5 minutes straight.

I’m too young to feel this old! Hopefully by next next I’ll be on some meds and on my way to feeling less brain dead.

And while I’m on a complaining roll, I gotta say, my knee feels more jacked up than ever, It’s peesing me off. It feels like there is nothing left in there, and it’s just bone rubbing bone.

And now I’m having shoulder issues.

I feel like I’ve been doing all the ‘right,’ pre-habby type stuff…but apparently not enough.

I decided that I will do more ham/glute/hip work and lay off squatty stuff(unless I’m having a good day)
Besides,who doesn’t want better hams n glutes?

And more shoulder warm ups…I always start with ext rotations and band pull aparts…but I need more! Probably have to lay off shoulder stuff, or do lighter weight/higher reps. Then again overuse is overuse…

I played around with leg exts and the squat press machine with feet close together(like a frog) and it really worked the vastus med., which is another weak link. No knee pain with those.

My motto is, if it hurts, don’t do it!!

I feel your pain, Betty - I’m constantly working around busted body parts. It’s easy to get downhearted but just focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t. Are you taking fish oils and stuff?

Joining the reserves is still not a bad idea. To be honest, going active duty would be the best bet. (full benefits/pay, etc)
But I have no desire of being called up for deployment and leaving my kidlets. Between you and I, I don’t think the hubby could last a day in my ‘job.’

Julia overheard me talking to the Man about me goin off to corps school and what that would be like, etc…a week later Julia says to me while I was in the middle of reading her a bedtime story, “Mommy, I don’t want you to go to work far far away. Your my best Mommy and I need you.”

*tear

Although just about 20 minutes we got into it because she wanted me to make her a sandwich RIGHT NOW. Something was said along the lines of ‘I’m the parent, your the child’…she looked right at me, arms folded and yelled ‘I don’t care!!’

I swear she is 4 going on 14.

Cal, thanks.I know you can commiserate!
Been taking fish oil forever along with the move free stuff that has extra vit D in it.

YAY for a good Doctor!

And for having both kids in school in the fall. You are going to love having a little time to yourself to train/ get stuff done without your helpers. Maybe just enjoy it Mimzy, if you can do that for awhile. The mom gig is still pretty busy.

I picked up this shoulder prehab move from Heavy T. It’s helped his shoulders a lot. Here it is. I’ve been incorporating it into my shoulder routine, in hopes that it will help keep me out of trouble. It does feel a little dorky laying on a bench with some 3 pound DBs, but if it works!

oh I love the Mom job!!
Been doin it since becoming a Mom
That was nearly 10 years ago. 10 years we’ve been living on one measly military paycheck. We get by. It’s gotten a lot better. But there were a couple years in the beginning that we were nearly drowning with bills, rent, car, new baby…it was scary. I’ve had a couple part-time jobs before to try and help, but all it was doing was paying for daycare.

But who wants to just get by?

I’ll figure it out. 2012 Julia will be in Kindergarten…ALL DAY!! WAHOO…That would be a good time to get at least a part time job during school hours…

(oh and Julia went to pre-school half day last year. I also sent her to daycare while I was in school a couple years ago…LOVE my free time!!)

I also feel your discouragement that your body is letting you down on the knee and shoulder fronts. Keep on trying different pre-habby stuff and never give up.

Hang in there Mim.

Oy, such a Virgo, you.

UGH! Sorry about the aches and pains. But hooray for finding a good doctor!

Some thing get easier, somethings get more complicated. Things even out one way or another. Just keep looking for those things that bring you joy along the way.

Aw Julia sounds like such a sweet heart, almost makes me want to have a kid, almost.

My shoulder needs a bit of a wake up call as well, it is a rather complicated joint, just takes a bit more time. I have to keep reminding myself that this time last year, I could do sweet fuck all with it, its not perfect but so much better.

I love lovely looking hams and glutes, go for it.

Made it to the gym…

did some pre-habby shoulder stuff…
my 10 push-ups…I’ve progressed to down on the floor
I’ll have to check to see when you move on to regular ones.

I did a million front squats with just the bar and I’m happy to report minimal pain.

what else…
hypers
planks(getting better. I can do 30s now before shaking.ha!)
goblet squats(no hurty…feet practically at right angles)
standing hip ext
abductions
donkey kicks
bicep curls
diamond pu’s

well I’m not crazy…just sick!

Got some of my lab test results back…

TSH has risen since the last time…and my antibodies are high.

For Hallowed, if your reading…

~TSH- 9.791(was 6 something last time)

~Thyroglobulin AB- 195 (out of 0-80)

~ Thyroid Peroxidaise AB-73(out of 0-29)

The weird thing?? My FT4 is within limits- 1.02(0.89-1.76)

Still waiting on FT3…but the bottom line is that I have the thyroid sicks…amirite? I’m picking up my meds later!! And get retested in a month.

I’m so glad you were finally able to see a quality Dr. Hopefully getting this issue resolved will make some of the other stuff (i.e. knee pain) more tolerable to deal with.
