Beginner Needing A Lot of Help!

I am 22 at the moment and a bit lost when it comes to my weight lifting/diet/cardio work so I guess I’ve a lot to learn and hopefully I can find the answers here.

Basically I did some weight training from about the age of 16 to about 20.This would have been roughly 3 times a week with a semi decent diet and occasionally protein and weight gain supplements. Also it was very ineffective training as weight increases were rare and so was cardio thus it was more of a maintainence than true weight training.

However for the last 2 years my training has slipped far further to the point of being lucky to do some basic weights once every 2 weeks and no cardio! The weights are a jumble of uncontrolled:

12x20kg
10x20kg
10x20kg
8x20kg
6x20kg

of curls, thumb up curls, upward rows, shoulder presses, one arm tricep extensions, tricep curls,2 sets of flat bench press. This is followed by 27gr protein in the form of tuna.Roughly 6 hours sleep a night.

However starting next week I’m planning to really get into training again, with a little advice to guide me.So heres were I’m hoping T-Nation can help me out:

1:I was wondering if I should try the " Westside for skinny bastards" system and scrap my own.

2:Diet.I am totally clueless a to how to start a decent one.

3:Cardio.Any ideas of cardio workouts for my level and how long/often I should be performing them?

4:Any other suggestions? If you think I might be missing something please tell me as I’ve a long way to go and am trying to make sure I take the best route there.

I’m 6 foot and 180lbs.Trying the impossible,to build strength, power and fitness. Thanks for all your help in advance,I know I’ll need a lot of it.

Sure a bit advanced IMO for a beginner. I would tend to have you go for CW’s ABBH, of Big Boy Basics, sopmething along that line. Scerapping your own cant tell you if you should we have no idea what it is. but those listed are very good programs as are anything on the site. IMO youd be best off chosing one until you have a great understanding of training and your self how you respond.

to much for one post and you can READ about it again thet thread I pointed to and the links I know that in that thread are links to great artciles like the Seven Habits… article and foods that make you look good nekkid nail the seven habit first take steps eating REAL FOOD then get more complicate as you get in a consistant habit.

Start off againm slow add one session make it habit I WOULDNT suggest HIIT to a beginner start with some simple moderate cardio say 45 mins and slowly add after weeks.

read the cardio roundtables

Yuo just put something to action TOMORROW add slowly make things habit dont just read DO. and ask questions as they arise.
