BB Rows: Straps at What Weight?

I work up to about 230-240lb and then start using straps for this and the top weights 250-265lb. Basically I warm up and then use straps for the last warm up and then the top weight (4x5). I felt a bit of a wimp at first but got over it.
How about everyone else?

I’m too weak to use straps yet. However, strong people who want to focus on upper back development use straps in their heavy sets to tire out their backs without grip strength being a limiting factor.

I use straps for my working sets on these. Just remember: What muscles are you trying to work with a BO row? Your grip or your back? Just make sure your doing other stuff for your grip.

I just take my warmups w/o straps. The work sets- 365-405 for 3-6 reps, or 315 for 8-12- are strapped in. Personally, grip has not yet been an issue.

If I can’t hold it then generally for me going higher my form suffers bit

I am pretty much with you, over 275 supinated or 245 pronated and I will probably use straps. Personally I think straps are fine on shrugs and bent over rows but that is about it, as a competitive PLer use of them on those exercises has never hindered my grip strength for deads or anything else.

for back, and trap work I use straps as soon as I think I could use more weight if I had a better grip.

If thats 225, or 315, dosent matter.

I’ve recently realized that straps are invaluable for rows, especially DBs. I can’t hold 120 lb. DBs for 10 reps, but I can sure as hell row them.
