BB Row Form

After doing BB rows with as little weight as 185, Im about to give up, becuase they dont give me any muscle stimulation, and they dont help my bench as good as kroc rows do. [/quote]

Plain and simple your probably rowing wrong. If all else fails try underhand rows.

Speaking of rowing form…

Most people would call this horrible form, and so would I, or at least I did until he explained it. He said that the only thing his training revolves around is becoming a better bencher and this way of rowing hits his traps and upper back in a way that best helps his benching. He’s been doing this lifting thingy for a long time and tried just about every row you can think of, and this is the best he’s found for his purpose.

This is Freddi Smulter, the current IPF world champion, european champion and finnish champion in benchpress. The guy can do more reps with four plates a side than most reading this thread can do with one plate a side. If he says rowing like this makes him a better bencher I would believe him. I’d consider what he’s doing to be more of a power shrug than a row though.

Does it look retarded? Hell yes, but it works for him. My point here is that there are more than one ways to skin a cat, figure out which one is best for you and get busy.

So someone whom you obviously consider knowledgeable and a source of quality advice is disagreeing with you and your immediate reaction is that he’s wrong and you’re right? The thought never occured to you that “hey, this guy normally knows what he’s talking about, maybe he’s got a point here”? Fascinating…

I know that this is an old post I’m replying to but it’s a good example of one of the biggest flaws with people on these forums. They’re so busy trying to be right that they’ll never learn much. You could’ve asked C_C to elaborate, you could’ve said “hey, what you just said seems wrong to me, can you explain?”. I’m sure he could’ve given a pretty good explanation.

When I first saw Freddi’s “rowing” I could’ve just assumed he didn’t know what he was doing, but since I know that he never does anything in his training without a good reason I listened to his explanation instead.

Wont get any hate from me on those rows. Most the little bitches in here couldn’t even shrug that shit.

The answer is yes.

He tried to sell me some.

He’s a pusher.

But omgomgomg he doesn’t have his back parallel to the deck, what is he THINKING!??!?!?!111//!??!//

He’ll never get a big back like the guys rowing 135 with perfect form, never. The fact that he’s a world champion at moving heavy shit doesn’t mean anything. I’m dissapointed, the usual quality of his training is very high, guess I was disillusioned. Will find another role model asap.

Careful, you’re gonna start another argument about shrug form, and not only are arguments gay but if people actually learn something it cuts into Bug’s trapplesauce sales.

I think the general concensus is that you should do the rows according to your goals. I already got into it with CC a little earlier about it and understand a lot more, now. If you’re trying to build upper back thickness, then the form in the videos is fine, go heavier, use a little english, raise the angle and pull to a lower point. Does it start to resemble a shrug at that point? I suppose people have already argued that, but I think it does. And yes, it makes it a lot easier to pull big weight, but if you know what you’re doing, then it should be useful, but it’s easy to use that as an ego booster if you don’t already know what you’re doing.

The issue I had was the original poster asked about his BB row form, but did not specify his goal, so some people came on and said it was bad because a traditional row is done more horizontal with strict form. But that row is used if you want to target your lats more, and has to be used with lighter weight, more strict form, and focusing more on stretching the lats at the bottom of the movement, correct me if I’m wrong (like that needed to be said).

Hey a simple question…is it Troy or Trent?
If its either then thank you
If its neither then thank you again.
Thanks in advance.

kthxbye
