Barbell Bent Over Rows

I should have studied psychology and gotten a job related to that.
Business must be booming with the amount of nutjobs around on this forum alone… I mean, some guy who is probably between 13 and 14 years old and spends most of the day trolling internet forums must be wrong in the head, right?
Add to that that he probably has 15 different accounts on here, there you go, multiple-personality disorder or whatever it’s called.

Anyway, as far as maraudermeat’s epic post about me, your form still sucks. What exactly is your purpose for doing deadlift + row combo? If you’re trying to build your UPPER BACK then it is not ideal to do it.

But as I said, my opinions doesn’t matter cause you’re very strong… It just so happens that your form blows.

As long as his low-back doesn’t round, it doesn’t matter at all whether he’s using it to lift some more weight or not… The part of rowing technique which determines whether you use your backthickness musculature (which would be the main reason to do that kind of row) primarily/train it well does not have anything to do with the low-back.

You are totally focusing on the wrong thing…

As far as OVERALL BACK DEVELOPMENT then I can see how the cheating row can be more beneficial, but aren’t we talking about upper back development only?

I think the fact that he rows almost twice what you squat suggests that he may potentially know more about training than you do.

Please don’t get mad if I correct you.

You are underestimating me waaay too much. I can imagine the readers of my posts imagining me as someone who looks like Richard Simmons who curls while standing at a bosu ball. Guys, please, I know I’m not elite but come on! Maraudermeat? Rowing twice as much as I squat? lol. That’s just bogus. Give me about 8-10 more years. After that, we’ll see who’s gonna be the one who’s mocking people about how weak they are…

I truly respect experienced lifters WITH THEIR EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS. It’s just that I don’t give a shit about their advice. If you read my earlier posts, you’ll notice how i gave MarauderMeat a compliment about how strong he is (he deserves it!!!). You’ll also notice how I bashed his advice for the OP. (he deserves it!!!)

Just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you’re privileged to teach pepople about what you’re doing. It’s called the law of individual differences. Kirk Karwoski and Leonid Taranenko are both legends in their respective sports, they are both very strong, and yet have done different training methods. If you were to ask the two for some advice about how to increase your squat, would they give you the same type of advice? FUCK NO!

And even if they themselves, who can squat more than Maraudermeat himself, gave me advice, I probably wouldn’t follow it unless if it is scientifically sound. FOR EXAMPLE, Kirk may tell me to squat 5 sets of 5 reps. My question is gonna be “why? Why do I have to do 5 reps? 5 sets of 4 reps is much closer to the recommended volume guideline of Alexander Sergeyevitch Prilepin’s table.”. He’d probably kick me out of the gym since I’m stubborn, and considered an idiot in T-Nation even though in reality, I know much more than all of you… My point is, just because a guy is strong doesn’t mean he’s smart. Bud Charniga probably can’t row as much as MarauderMeat, but he knows more about training than him… Heck, he probably knows more than Louie![/quote]

Copied from Maraudermeat’s post…
i’m putting out a plee to my fellow T-Nation brothers and sisters, PLEASE stop responding to this little boy. He seriously needs a ton more time to grow up before he has earned the right to be here. If he posts, for the love of God let it go. everytime i see his name it makes my eye twitch a little.

Please heed the plea.

Hilarious.

Me doing some BB rows. I do them upright when I don’t want to involve my lower back much. I do them like Marauder and others when I’m just trying to lift heavy shit and destroy the entire back.

I’m open to all critiques (minus TYPE2B).

Do you ever stop and think maybe your just wrong?

Bodybuilding was founded on experience surpassing the speed at which science can back it up. For many years people have been doing rows the way MM does them, and they have worked for the majority of them… Using your insurmantouble powers of reason maybe you would stop and think there’s a reason for that…Reasons that go beyond the basics of exact form on a row.

Bill Roberts and GiganticGlute both provide insights into a row with momentum can work to improve musculature, take time out your life to get over yourself and think about them…why?.. because obviuosly if it worked this long for so many people, YOUR WRONG.

Me too. Gonna have to bust that one out this weekend.

Nothing wrong with some stricter form high rep stuff at the end, but rows have always been the type of lift that will go nowhere if you’re worrying about keeping everything still and steady

Meat your form is sexy

Please stop rowing weights I can’t deadlift.

Kthnxbai.

Pretty interesting article for those of you interested in the specific mechanics of the lift…

Comparison of different rowing exercises: trunk muscle activation and lumbar spine motion, load, and stiffness.

Note: I believe EC posted this on his blog not to long ago.
