Thanks man, I’m loving this reverse diet

I went and got food for the week last night and I was literally amazed at how expensive beef is and I couldn’t bring myself to pay $5+ for a pound of beef when a pound of chicken breasts are $1.99. BUT I was craving some type of red meat so I cleaned out my change container in my car and got some cash lmao THE STRUGGLE…what do you guys do for your meat consumption throughout the day? I usually do 1 pound every day.

Ground turkey is the inbetween IMO… 90% lean has some fats like beef and good amount of pro like chicken… its 3.5 a lb here so legit right inbetween on price too.
so
But im not afraid to throw down on beef sometimes, and if moneys tight ill get chicken thighs and just eat more. I usually eat 1.5 -2lbs a day, but sometimes itll be closer to 2.5-3 if im hungry

Make it, its really not that bad macro wise right? I could be wrong lolll

There is almost always a grocery store around with beef on sale. If you have a crock pot you can buy a lesser expensive cut of beef and make good stew. Holler if you need help, its easy. You can make some pretty inexpensive big hearty meals that will last you for days. Buy some cheap Jiffy mix and you’re golden.

From my log:
They did have a few beef roasts remaining, so I’ve been cooking some hungarian goulash all day. Simple recipe:

Per 1lb beef (in 1" cubes, chuck is ideal):

 • 1 tbsp lard, tallow, or shortening
 • 1 medium white onion, chopped
 • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
 • 1 tbsp Hungarian paprika (sweet paprika technically)
 • 1/4 tsp salt
 • 1/8 tsp black pepper
 • 1 bay leaf
 • 2 cups water
 1. Cook onions in fat until translucent, then browned.
 2. Add paprika, half of the salt, beef.
 3. Cover and let the meat simmer in its own juices for an hour. There won’t be any juices at first, but just wait.
 4. Add potatoes, the rest of the salt, pepper, bay leaf and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
 5. Simmer for however many hours until the beef is falling apart and the potatoes are soft. About 3+ hours.
 6. You can make dumplings out of flour, egg and salt at this point and add them to the broth, if you want.
 7. Serve with a dollop of sour cream on the side, if you want.

I haven’t eaten this batch today, but it smells great. I added a packet of gelatin to it, since I used beef round instead of chuck… a little more collagen to make up for the cheaper beef.
That’s per pound of beef. So, multiply everything by however many pounds.

Hungarian Paprika might be harder to find. Stuff from Szeged is what you want to look for.

Now that is a meal!

Ran across this video from Glenn Pendlay. His old lifter, Jon North, is training next door at the gym I train at. Bringing heat to this nice quiet town… By the way, Lorez’s recipe looks great too!

@lorez that sounds delicious
