Brotherhood of Iron 2.0

A very large man once said these words…

Am I the only nostalgic mofo on this site? What the fuck happened to the once proud brotherhood of iron? When did this once bound by a thirst for growth and hunger for improvement bunch of hardcore animals get infiltrated by a bunch of pussified moronic cry babies?

I spent this morning replying to threads about people being threatened in the parking lot because they were using someone’s piece of gym equipment, guys refusing to spot one another in the gym and people actually defending this mindless bullshit. Tell me there is hope after all and the glory days will be once more.

I used to walk into a gym and hang around the big boys just to pick up a tip or two. I trained for years before I finally mustered up enough nerves to ask the biggest guy in the gym in the gym if I could please train with him. The majority of these wannabe lifters nowadays have no fucking respect for the game anymore and are just taking up gym space if you ask me. Why the fuck do you look surprised when I tell you to get the fuck out my way when you are talking to your girl on your cell phone?

If a guy, who is in the midst of a serious work out, asks you to spot him, you spot him when you are ready to do so. And even if he doesn?t ask you, if he gets crushed under a weight and you are nearby, you spot him. When some young kid comes to you and asks you a few things, don?t be a total jackass and tell him a few basic things to get him on his way.

When someone is just fucking around, tell him to do things right or go home. If you are serious and want to learn, I have no problem helping you along, just come correct and respect those who have come before you. It is about time we clean this shit up, I am on a fucking war path to grow and improve and will not be taking any prisoners.

Semper Fi,
A

Thanks to Amsterdam Animal, and his rant on the current state of bodybuilding, we were given a place on this site where we could have virtual lifting partners. The original Brotherhood of Iron was a place were people with similar goals came together, to encourage each others goals, to make connections like the bodybuilders of the golden age had.

After 240 pages, and almost 2 years, we’ve got a thread full of progress, sometimes the names change, but the idea always remains.

We will become stronger, larger, and better.

This is where we take the next step.

This is the Brotherhood of Iron 2.0

Nice job JB. Quick question, does doing incline pressing on a smith feel different then doing it regularly with a bar?

Anyone know what happen to the Animal? Its really a loss to this site that he no longer posts here.

Depends on the machine, mine has a bit more drag then i would like, but its the best option ive got, and it feels much better on my shoulders then flat benching.

Word is that he left because of some heated arguement that happened on the politics forum.

Its a damn shame, and a reason why i never get into my personal views on a bodybuilding board.

keep it up boys. im expectin some good numbers from you today.

I’ve kept my eye on this thread since its beginning, never logged a workout or posted, so I feel like this is as good a time as any to finally post. After a six week layoff due to seniorittis and graduation, I’ve been back for almost as much time and regained my former numbers and then some.

I have a herniated disk in my back which does give me some trouble, and my right shoulder has just recently acted up. However, I’ve decided to train through it whilst doing some prehab stuff through the next week which will put me at 7 weeks back and consistent.

As for training, I’m following a chest/back, legs, shoulders/arms split. Train four times a week and do off-day low intensity cardio to keep bodyfat in check. I have an A and B set of workouts for each day. I’ve been training with a high intensity and not so much volume. My weight has gone back up after the layoff, sitting at about 185-188 and slowly gaining. I was once bulked up to about 210, but a little too sloppy. I then cut to about 180, where I was at prior to the 6 weeks off. Enough with the bullshit, here’s the session from today.

Day 1B July 9, 2008 Chest/Back
A. Incline db press 90sx10 80sx10
B. Chest supported T-bar 3px8 2p+25x10-12
C1. Rope lat pulldown 90x12
C2. HS flat press 2p x10-12*
D1. Cable crossover 80x12-15
D2. Pulldown chin grip 170x10

*just added this today for flat bench neck press, as my right shoulder is a little tweaked

Not sure what I did to provide the motivation, but I’m glad I did!

I’ll be posting up my lower body session later tonight, almost off work then strait to the gym. Going to be experimenting with barefoot ATG squats today. I’m too cheap to buy lifting shoes and chuck taylor’s are too narrow for my very wide feet.

Wow it seems starting BOI 2.0 made a few more people eager to join in on the fun. Good thought JB.

I’ll be here with my pulling session (sponsored by Spike) tomorrow, take care all.

I love to see all the new blood in here.

Lets see who can step up and be the next generation of T-Nation leaders, the big guys that people ask for help.

Im doing my best to be one of them, as is XB and Swiss.

Easy, well he’s already a freak, and only getting freakier.

When i found the first BOI in the fall of my sophomore year, i couldnt squat 225, and i couldnt incline 135, and having that thread to look back on was always a major motivator.

As was coming here and seeing AA talking about Benching and Squatting 500 pounds.

Progress, its what we live for, its our lifeblood, that and massive amounts of red meat.

And on that note, im going to go eat some steak.

Lets see some numbers men, and dont be afraid to post pics and any info about your current diets here as well.

Well as far as food goes here is what I’ve shoved in today.

  1. 16oz 2%milk, donut
  2. shake
  3. chicken breast, fried rice, 8oz water
  4. turkey sandwich, 16oz 2%milk, 1 1/2c yogurt
  5. shake
  6. 16oz 2%milk, coffe cake

I’m good for another chicken breast in a bit.

JB that steak house is 3 hours away from where I’m located…maybe if gas wasn’t 4.11$

XB, that diet looks much improved over what you had been blogging, a lot more protein, and with your damn metabolism, you just keep shoving anything you can down that gullet of yours.

Shit ya man.
I finally went and got some protein. Couple that with almost a gallon of milk each day and I’m getting a good 170g of protein/day. Thats with not counting protein from any meat, yogurt, or cottage cheese I’ve eaten either.

I’ve got some chipolte lime chicken cooking right now so I should be good.
I got a new camera so I’ll post a delicious picture of my late night dinner once it is done.

Well guys it is dinner time!

Mmmm butter!!!

Got home from my lower body workout a little bit ago. Here goes:

BB Back Squat (ATG, controlled negative) :

135x15 (warmup), 185x10, 225x8, 245x5, 275x3

Romanian DL :

185x12, 185x10, 185x10, 185x12 - went lighter on all sets bc my back was fairly fatigued from the last set of squats…I’ve never ATG squatted that much before.

Leg Extension :

140x16, 160x17, 180x12, 200x10

Supersetted with -

Leg Curl :

70x17, 80x12, 80x12, 90x10

Roman Chair (back extension, performed with strait back and 2sec hold at top) :

4 sets till my hammies were burning like crazy

Plate Pinches :

4 sets till failure, 2 10 pound plates per hand, smooth side out

Then I did some core training and stopped when my lower right abdominal almost cramped, I’ve had that happen before and its NOT fun!

Hey Josh do you compete in any sports at all?
