Hey I usually do standing military and I have no problems, but sometimes ill add in either seated db, or HS behind neck press and when im press i get this pain probably mid back feels almost like charlie horse on the left side if that means anything. Doesnt matter what the weight is, and it comes and goes. Am i not staying tight? any ideas?
The standing military press involves the core a great deal along with working the shoulders. I feel tightness in my back as well when doing them and all that I can say one could do to try and mitigate the pain if there is any is tighten your abs during the exercise. It might also help you lift more weight if you keep the core tight.
Not sure. Have you tried using a lacrosse/tennis ball on the area? I used to get cramps mid-back sometimes and getting out the scar tissue fixed that.

Also flex your glutes, that helps too! ![]()
