Shoulder Pressing In the Long Run

When I shoulder press both standing or seated I can feel it hits the lower back
It’s never painful but I still feel the weight going there,so I was wondering if,in the long run when one lifts very heavy weights it could be harmfull for the lower back.

I’m talking about injury during a workout,I’m talking about the consequences of heavy pressing for years.

Thanks

I think with the press your going to have to worry about the shoulder/rotator long before the lower back.

Do you stand “true” military style?
Then you should try shuffling one foot forward. (very small lunge, just thirty centimeters or so) Also, try to breath and tense your abs more.
You definitely have to keep that in check!

Hope that helps-
Schwarzfahrer

do you use a belt alot? I used to have that pain when i used a belt a lot (for squats and DL and such). I quit using a belt altogether in a systemized manner and now i can press quit a bit more and no pain. also weighted ab work (hard sets of 10-20) helped me as well.
Hope this helps, good luck

It’s not painful at all so far,but I can feel the weight going to my lower spine.
and no,I don’t use the belt.

I’ll try with one feet forward as schawrfaeher said.

Argh, it hurts! It’s Schwarzfahrer (fare-dodger).

Also try to have a decent neck posture! Basically, keep your chin slighty up like in when doing squats.

If you feel it hitting your spine when your sitting you should probably readjust your arch when your doing them, unless you have an incredibly week lower back. The whole point of sitting is to take most of the pressure of your lower back.

When your standing its touch to tell the future guess the best way would be able to ask the older guys. I purposely don’t go more then one set under 5 reps for the reason your describing, but also concentrate on keeping your core solid just in case.
